HI NELL,

MOLLY WAS A KITTEN WHEN I FIRST GOT HER...IT IS THE OLDER CATS THAT ARE FRIENDLY...THE KITTEN DO NOT LIKE THE OLDER CATS....MOLLY ATTACKED FINNIE WHEN MY LATE MOLLY PASSED AWAY...IT IS HARD TO HAVE KITTENS WHEN YOUR HOME IS FULL OF OLDER CATS...

FOR MY OPINION, I PREFER OLDER CATS AS WELL AS KITTENS...NOBODY SEEMS TO WANT OLDER CATS AND DOGS THAT IS WHY THEY ARE PUT DOWN ALL THE TIME...I GAVE A GOOD HOME TO A SENIOR MALE CAT AND HE IS SO AFFECTIONATE NOW AND NOT LEFT IN A SHELTER WHERE NOBODY WANTED HIM...HE WAS LEFT THERE FOR OVER 6 MONTHS SINCE HIS OWNER PASSED AWAY...THAT WAS REALLY HEART BROKEN...THE SHELTER EVEN GAVE HIM TO US FOR FREE CAUSE THEY KNEW HE WOULD BE LOVED...YOU SHOULD SEE HIM NOW...TAKE CARE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY...I REALLY APPRECIATE IT...

This is why I only bring tiny kittens, and only females, into the house. I don't play roughly, but gently handle them constantly, while fussing over the older cats. The older cats take a few weeks to get used to her, but the kittens are always intuitively submissive, and eventually they all get along. Much as I love cats, I would never allow an adult cat to enter the house, even temporarily. I would be afraid of litter box (or rather non-litter box) issues.

i've had cats all my life, usually 2 or 3 at a time..7 yrs ago, my dil "found" an abandoned kitten and brought it home to me..at that time i had 2 grown cats, chyna, then 17 yo and mytzvah, then 12 yo..chyna had just been diagnosed with cancer the day before zoey came to live with us..chyna & mytzvah ignored the new kitty..zoey ignored mytzvah BUT hated & attacked chyna..my vet said that zoey probably sensed that chyna was dying and wanted no part of her because of that reason..
zoey wasn't yet a month old when she was found and the vet thought that she wouldn't live..he encouraged me to play a little roughly with her, to help her muscles get strong...big mistake!..i've been attacked by her so many times that i've lost count..i've gotten infections from her bites, had to get a tetanus shot, take antibiotics and so on..
she gets this "look" in her eyes(i call it her phooey look), her tail starts to swish, and the next thing i know, i'm bleeding!..this was just a huge pain in the asp until i developed heart issues and started taking blood-thinners..now, it could really present a major problem..
this april mytzvah went to the bridge..since then zoey has become so lovey-dovey that she scares me at times..she still gets "that" look, but not as often or as violently..
i'd love to get another cat, but i'm afraid that zoey will revert to her wild behavior..
my heart breaks for your situation..i hope you can find a solution..
have you spoken to your vet about this?..you really should..you too, spanky..
please keep us informed....theresa.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH YOU, I FEEL IT IS BECAUSE YOU BROUGHT IN ANOTHER CAT AND YOUR OLDER ONE IS JEALOUS AND THINKS THE NEW ONE IS INVADING HER TERRITORY...

MY CAT FINNIGAN IS DOING THE SAME THING BY CRAPPING ON MY HALL AND KITCHEN FLOOR....SHE IS 11 YEARS OF AGE NOW AND NEVER DID THIS BEFORE...SHE LOST HER FRIEND LAST YEAR WHOM WENT OVER THE BRIDGE AND SINCE THEN I ADOPTED 2 MORE CATS ONE OLDER ONE AND A KITTEN AND SHE WAS JEALOUS OF THE 2....SINCE THEN HER ANGER WAS EXPRESSED ON ME BY DOING WHAT SHE IS DOING....I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO, CAUSE I HAVE NO INTENTION OF GETTING RID OF THE OTHER CATS...WE ARE IN THE SAME CATEGORY...HAVE A WONDERFUL SUNDAY AND LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENS...SPANKY

I have a two year old tabby named Itty Bit who I got when she was appx 10 weeks old. I also had a 14 year old cat at the time. They never really got along but for the most part left each other alone. From the time Itty was a baby she has always been a bit aggressive. Attacking me right in the middle of a snuggle. This summer my mother went into a nursing home and I had to find homes for 3 of her 5 cats. I gave one of them a home. Sadie is a very social cat with a mild temperment. From the time Sadie came into the house, Itty has done nothing but growl and hiss and become more aggressive particularly towards me. Biting me and drawing blood for no apparent reason. In September, my elder cat crossed the bridge at the age of 16. Sadie generally ignores Itty but does get tired of Itty's attitude. Itty stays hidden alot of the time and does show her displeasure by pooping on the carpet.

In all the years I have had cats, I have never had a psycho cat. She can be really loving and in a blink, turn on you and bite.

I would like your opinions. Is there any hope for a peaceful household, ever?

Thanks

Jackie / OH
