awwww...PJ....my heart goes out to your son and his wife with her brother and all. One of my brother's has adopted twin boys who are about 35 years old now and both are into drugs...thanks to their Mom who introduced them to drugs when they were only 13~~
The two of them cause big grief to my brother....they cannot hold a job....they steal....they go to my 87yr old Mom with lies ( which she believes ) to get money from her...They are forever after another brother asking for money....
It just never seems to stop~~ emoticon m emoticon emoticon emoticon

Has anyone ever cooked?/ate? fennel? I have never eaten fennel but I roasted some tonight with carrots / little corn cobs / and some butternut squash..

Had a wee nibble....seems alright but will have the rest with steak and sweet potato later...

Had my eye checkup today. No glaucomo or macular degeneration showing but do need to have my left eye catarac lasered. They call that a secondary catarac. Had both eyes done several years ago. It is about a 5 minute procedure and no one has to be with me. Will get that done at 10 in the morning. Then I should be able to get a new prescription and glasses ordered to have before we leave for Texas. Maybe then I will be able to see better again.

Also had a chiro adjustment.

I ordered 2 MY Pillows today. Anyone have them? Frank also ordered a table top ice maker so we wont’ have to deal with filling ice cube trays all the time. That will be a relief.

Arlene I’m like Sharon not sure I am going to send out any cards this year. I may get one for MIL and the 2 DSs and if I do anymore than that I have some here at the house I can use.

Eileen that would have made me really nervous to have that many unexpected show up. But it helped that they brought food. And sometimes its nice not to have to deal with leftovers.

SS sounds like you had a good day at the trade center. I like the new bedspread. Ours is new too. LOL

Tammy enjoy your Thanksgiving break. When does the semester end? And when are you going to FL and for how long? Will you be doing the driving of the trailer?

We have had a bright sunny day but lots of wind.

I just finished watched the movie Aviator. That Howard Hughes was one messed up man. I didn't realize that he and Kate Hepburn had a thing at one time. The lady that played that part did an excellent job. I think it was Cate Blanchett.

Hi, friends!

I didn't get here earlier as is my usual routine, but have a few minutes until my last class of the day begins. I won't be here until next Monday, since the college's Thanksgiving Break begins Wednesday. Yay for me!

Marianne, I think it will be warmer in FL, but not as in TX or AZ. A month from today should be our first day there! Yay!

PJ, it is good to "see" you here.

Hello to all...my mind has been going several different directions, most of them over good things, but I'm at a loss here....LOL

Good Morning!

Eileen - I would have been a nervous wreck when all the extra people showed up at the dinner! Sounds like it all went fine and I would have worried for nothing. We are looking forward to our resort's dinner on Thanksgiving. From past experiences, I was disappointed as everyone ate and ran home to watch the football games. But, the people here say they stick around and those interested in football, they turn the TV on in the clubhouse for them to watch.

Arlene - the fact you go to all that work for Christmas cards - Wow! I find Christmas cards seem to be dying out. Last year I sent 75 and rec'd 11. I am thinking I may not send any this year!

Marianne - WiFi is good this morning but I just can't count on it, kind of like you had in our resort last year. I upped my Verizon data so I can use that for my finance stuff and I can use that in times of need. I like your jar idea and it seems to be working for you! I don't think I could eat a salad when everyone is eating pizza! Good job!

PJ - so glad to see you check in although I am sorry for all you have been dealing with. It sounds like quite the mess for your DS and his wife. I'm not surprised drugs are involved as it's not normal behavior. Perhaps they learned a valuable lesson and won't be so inviting next time. Good for Frank on the two deer. Every state is different as to how many you can get each season. In MI, it's one doe and one buck for a total of two. Can Frank continue to hunt or is he done for the season? I bet you are getting excited to pack up and go. It is nice to go and relax for awhile. Your problems don't go away but there is nothing you are expected to do from afar so it takes a load off your shoulders. I'm not surprised that you put on a few lbs. Just don't let it bother you too much. I'm not in a good frame of mind since I gained back 30 lbs! Who knows how or why we let it happen but for those of us that deal with our weight, it's a lifetime issue. I just don't walk like I did a couple years ago but I could here as there is a lot of walking places.

Yesterday we went and checked out the trade center and had a lot of fun. I did buy myself a new fleece bedspread.

Nala is such a creature of habit, she won't even jump on it. The fleece is new to her and will just take adjusting to.

I think we are going to the local H.E.B. store today and get what I need for my salad for Thanksgiving. Eileen, in CC they have a H.E.B. Extreme which I believe what you told us about that carries everything! I won't go today but at some point, I want to go check it out.

Isn't it amazing how fast a day can go and how much a person can run? We had a huge group of people for the Thanksgiving dinner. I had about 10 people signed up for bringing a dish (potluck) and we are guessing there were at least 75 people there. We combined our morning church goers with our afternoon Hispanic service and they showed up without signing up but brought lots of foods!!! Great time visiting and learning about them. But I didn't think we would have enough turkey or rolls. Had 4 rolls left and no turkey. Roger and I did get s little but very little. I have learned that when we do this again, probably Christmas, I will plan on many more to feed. Lots of desserts, potatoes and salads though.

I am in need tomorrow of a recoup day. Need to clean my floors but otherwise, not sure what will transpire. Never know. Have cards on Tues. and a couple people coming in for Thanksgiving dinner here at our house. Just have to get another turkey and bake some more rolls!!

Sharon, I agree with you as to the temps. It has been very warm so far this fall and a couple of records have fallen yet again so the cool temps are so enjoyable. The winds last night were very strong.Did get to 76 today and currently at 60. Perfect to me. Roger had his sweatshirt on at 70 degrees!

PJ, you have had a stressful fall and it's no wonder a gain has happened. I hope all comes together for you and the family. We went through some of that with our DIL whose sister and mom are drug addicts. She had to break ties with them as they were on her all the time for money. That was a few yrs. ago and we are just recently seeing a different person in her. It's hard for sure. I hope you guys get to Falcon to relax. The 12th is Roger's BD.

Marianne, good for you, sticking to your goals. And way to go for your g/son. I am missing the girls but did get a video of Josie's beam workout and pictures of Mahlia's karate change to a brown belt. They are all doing well. Sure glad we had time with them this summer.

It"s been a busy time here. I'm still working on cards. Also checking on photo cards for this year, decided that I wouldn't spend so much time on the cards that I send through the mail, so Walmart may get my business for that this year. :)

I received word on Friday that my last uncle had passed away in Lewistown, MT. As I understand he will be cremated and his ashes brought back here to ND this coming summer to be placed on his mothers grave. It's one of the many graves Darrell and I take care of every year for Memorial Day.

Jenny will be home for Thanksgiving and as I understand Brian & Marissa will be going to her family. I have a turkey in the fridge thawing. We always like left over turkey, at least Darrell does so doing a turkey is a winner.

Well I best get to bed so I can get up and get to the Y in the morning. This isn't a week to miss that with the holiday meal in there. :)

Good afternoon,

Eileen, wishing all goes well with the turkey dinner today. emoticon

Tammy, your trip to Pensacola is definitely something to look forward to. Won’t it be much warmer there? emoticon

Sharon, glad Norm likes the RV resort and you’re doing some exploring. Less internet time is probably good for us, although I went through serious withdrawal in Hawaii. emoticon It’s really too bad the wifi connection isn’t better where you are though. I have a couple of craft fairs to visit on the calendar and really enjoy them.

PJ, we have some extended family issues with a couple of close relatives - very stressful and makes me wonder how these people who are supposed to be adults live with themselves when they take advantage of family members. I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time, especially being worried about your son’s health. Good to hear Frank is having successful hunting and you’ll be returning to Falcon fairly soon.

We went to the last flag football tournament of the year for our grandson this morning. They were thrilled to win both games; team plus parents and grandparents ended up at a pizza place to celebrate and stage an award ceremony. I stuck to a healthy salad with vegetables - Heather is right, I do not want to put any money in the “over calorie range” jar! emoticon

I know I have been absent. I have been having a hard time within myself a bit of depression I think. Much has been going on with youngest DS his wife brother causing issues for them. The house addition that brother was going to add on came to a sudden halt because it was not being done to code and he left the state. Luckily only a bit of the framing had been done so that is being torn down and the siding (that was messed with is being replaced). He also took off with their 2nd vehicle (which he was supposed to be buying but never paid for). It has been retrieved by another brother and they are holding it at their house in Ohio. The kids plan to go get it back over Christmas. And of course there are drugs involved with the brother. That is a quick update on that front. Also DS had a upper and lower GI with several polyps taken and sent to the lab. Some were precancerous and he has a follow up in December.

Personally I have gained a few pounds and trying to get back on track. I had a good physical and lab work done all was good except being dehydrated. So I am drinking more water. I have been struggling with the low carb diet I don’t have a problem with staying away from breads, pasta, potatoes but I am missing veggies and fruit. So I am allowing myself an apple or banana once in a while and eating higher carb veggies sometimes in moderation. Also eating my steel cut oatmeal a few days a week. I have been slacking in my exercising with everything else that has been going on so am trying to get that schedule back into my routine also.

I did make a trip to Iowa to see cousins and the remaining 2 aunts and 2 uncle (who are in nursing homes). Also checked on mom and dads grave to make sure it was taken care of properly. It was a good trip the cousin and I did some shopping and overcourse non healthy eating. Went to a funeral on Friday the wife of the last couple I worked for passed away from cancer. She passed the same day as dad did only a year later.

Frank has been hunting and we now have 2 deer processed and in the freezer. We will be going to BIL’s house for Thanksgiving and having Christmas here on December 10 and I hope we head out for Texas on December 12.

I got my flu shot and Prevanar 13 shots also. My arm was very sore for a couple of days and I am still fighting with tennis elbow (now wearing a band) not sure if it helps and I know knitting isn’t helping either but I just can’t give that up just slowing down.

SS I am sorry about your wifi situation at your new winter home. Sounds like Norm is enjoying the area. Are you walking a lot? I can’t wait to get to Falcon so I can hit those trails again. I get so restless this time of year before we leave.

I’m not going back to even try and catch up on everyone.

Morning!
Well, today is our windiest day so far! I guess we got the same front as you did Eileen. Much cooler temps and this wind! Personally, the wind can go but I like the cooler temps. It would be my pleasure to have 60's & 70's for the rest of the winter!

While talking with our new friends yesterday, we mentioned the craft fair we went to. They told us to go check out the Corpus Christi Trade Center. It's only open on the weekends so we may venture over and check it out today.

Due to lack of WiFi, I have been reading more but I'm quickly getting tired of reading! Norm and I talked yesterday and he seems to be happy here and is planning on spending our whole winter here. He likes being able to walk down and fish an hour or two each day. So I guess I will need to adjust to using my computer less! I will try to check in on SP each day though.

In a month, DH and I will be leaving for Pensacola, if the weather holds. Right now the forecast looks as if it will be okay. A lot of times, our true winter weather happens in January and February.

Brenda, good to know it is a "for sure" thing on the retirement.

Heather, you are on fire with the weight loss! Way to go!

Eileen, glad all is ready for the Tgiving dinner today. I miss those church dinners. What will you do on the actual Turkey Day?

I have a small turkey breast that I will be baking - found out through DD that DS and DIL won't be here. I think perhaps they are choosing to go her folks' way as one grandfather is NOT well at all; his third round of cancer is not responding to treatment. DS may also need to work that evening - he has been a WalMart employee for 10+ years and at first I thought his recent move to the automotive department manager position might keep him from working on Tgiving evening, but then I realized they will still be selling things in that department. I am trying not to give him grief as he deals with his recent Crohn's diagnosis.
As I texted DD yesterday, more leftovers! LOL

Arlene, I was enjoying your church FB posts - you haven't done any in a while or I have missed them. Guess I better look! LOL I do hope DS finds a local job and that it pays well. I am doing Kitty Duty this weekend - not here as DH likes cats as long as they aren't ours LOL - but fortunately DD and future SIL live close. They will be home this evening and I was home anyway, so it wasn't hard.

SS, sorry about the WiFi. It's irritating for sure when a person is used to having it readily accessible, which we are. It sounds like you are making friends, which doesn't surprise me a bit. emoticon

It's 10 PM and soon to bed!!! I know, I know. It's a shock to me too!!

Massage long and good. Some pretty sore muscles tonight. Changed my mind non pouring the broth on the turkey tonight. Roger will be up at 6 AM and do it then, put it in the heating unit of the roaster and then we will take it to church and plug it in about an hour before services. Decided to bake the rolls this evening so that done and bagged (72 rolls) ready to head to church as well.

There is a cold front coming through now and the winds have kicked in like you remember them Sharon. It's about the 2nd or 3rd time for high winds since getting in. Another one coming next week. Temp today 95 down to 76 right now.

Hi to all and sweet dreams. Soon now for me!

Good Evening!
The WiFi seems to get worse each day so I am posti g on my phone!

We went to our Community Breakfast first thing this morning. Plenty of food but the main dish was an egg strata. Unfortunately, it had mustard in it and I didn't care for it.

While visiting over breakfast, we found out there was a Craft Fair about 20 minutes from us. So we drove over and checked it out. We walked ariund for a couple hrs. We got a drink and shared a funnel cake in the tent with live music. It felt good to sir for awhile.

When we got back we had a couple come over and we ended up visiting with them a couple hrs.

All in all, a good day!

Marianne - good for Pete being honored.
Deborah - the desk is looking good! Glad your MIL is doing better.

Brenda,- both you and Mike are going to be happy when he retires! I hope you can get away for a bit yet this winter.

Eileen - I am sure you dinner will turn out bice and it will be nice when it's over as well.

Heather - what a wonderful WI! This eating is working well for you. It does seem good to see you losing again.

Pete is being honored at a brunch for community volunteers in an hour, so this will be quick. Nice and sunny, but cold, today. Prediction is rain for Thanksgiving so I’m glad we don’t have to drive far, DD will host.

Brenda, congrats to Mike! emoticon I decided this year to adopt your “no stress” holiday idea; for us it’s usually Christmas because it’s so tough to get everyone together.

Eileen, you are definitely getting exercise with all that work! I’m sure the park dinner will be wonderful. emoticon

WG, I’m so tired of gaining and losing the same few pounds, working on consistency.

Heather, emoticon Glad to hear you sound so positive and are making great progress! So far, so good with the jars. emoticon

Just quick note. Another busy day and definitely not used to directing. Sore shoulders and arms. Loosened them up a little today but more lifting. Turkeys are cooked and "carved" and in the frig. Will cover with broth tomorrow, heat up on Sun. before church and get them there. Tomorrow night will set rolls when I go to bed and Roger will bake early on Sun morning. Then off to church. That's my weekend in a nutshell.

Sharon, I am going to have to look for one.

Deborah very nice looking desk!!

Heading to bed shortly. I know, it's not 1 AM but will be sound asleep in the recliner if not. So hi to all and to all a good night.

Hi everyone. It's been a busy week or two. Don't know why as not a lot of new things are going on.

Deborah, so sorry about your MIL. I'm glad she has been able to live her life the way she wanted for all this time. That is what we all wish to do. Have a good trip and enjoy visiting with her. There may be some decisions to make but it is part of being a family. Establishing residency sounds like a good idea. I've got no idea what it entails. You will probably have to pay state taxes which is the win for them.

TC, glad it was tape worm. Still better than some alternatives. Get some rest girl. Sounds like you have been busy.

Arlene, hope your DS finds a job soon. Sometimes it takes a long time to find a great fit. I look at friends and family who have been looking and sometimes it took a while to find a good job but often the new job was better than the old one.

Eileen, you are one busy woman. Hope that things go well for dinner. Glad you got the music taken care of and other small things. Sounds like you are on top of things.

Marianne, it sounds like a good idea to keep you motivated. It's hard to keep on track for the holidays. I often have some very "nutritious" choices on the days I'm not involved in celebrating and when I do, it works better.

Have a great day. I've got a ton to do today and I think I'll run out of day before I get things done.

Good afternoon to all just got done getting Thanksgiving meal food at the grocery store . No one in the family sister or brother said any thing about getting together so we texted the kids and told them that we had to eat that day and if they wanted to join us they were welcome too if not we understand.

I am trying a No Stress Holiday .

Well it is Official Mike is retiring December 29 He got all his paper work done the other day made sure all the ducks were all lined up and signed the paper work . He was sort of on the fence post more so leaving a job but I see he is getting stressed again at the position and its not worth it . So his last day is Dec 29 and we can start to plan our RV trips . Hoping the weather is half way good.

Sharon how did the jewelry class go Eileen you are so busy don't forget to take time for yourself .
you guys can send some of the heat up this way.

Hello to all & have a good day

Greetings,

While I have a few minutes here I wanted to sincerely thank you ladies for your kind words in regards to my MIL. She is doing better, and yesterday was transferred from ICU to Med/Surg floor at Abbott Northwest. DH younger brother flew in last night, so he is with her for the next several days.DH spoke with her last night and she sounded good, but, of course, she is weak and doesn't have much appetite. Currently she is unable to ambulate on her own. At this point, we are not sure when she will be released to home. I told DH they may want her to do some rehab at a nursing home first before she can go home. At any rate, she is tickled we are coming back to see her over the holiday.

For all intents and purposes, the office space/computer desk project is completed. DH is building a filing cabinet out of oak that will match the desk top and it will go in the middle space between the chairs. I am so pleased with how it turned out :)

The sun is shining today!!! Hooray!! I am going out for a walk soon.

Take good care, ladies, and enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Blessings,
Deborah

Good Morning!

Another hot, humid day on tap for today. And I believe the highlight of my day will be doing laundry! At least the laundry room is a/c.

Eileen - I bought my waffle stick iron at WalMart at Christmas time. It was like $10 and I use it quite often. I buy one of the Jiffy Muffin mix or the pkg muffin mixes. I do add a little extra oil to the mix as you do for most waffle mixes. The other day I made a mixed berry and they were very good. I can make the waffle sticks faster than my toaster oven makes toast.

Another hot day here and a couple more in store before a cool down. The humidity was so high today! I was up a 6 AM and on the go the entire day. Got home about 4:30 and Roger asked about dinner. Told him I don't care but not going out nor had energy to cook. He went out for takeout hamburgers.

Sure do hurt this evening and have more work tomorrow. Will be cleaning the turkeys and placing them in roasters after getting the roasters from church. Then it's fixing up the song books i made today for the choir as I found a few mistakes and then get them out to a couple people that forgot practice time today.

Sharon, do you use any type of muffin mix with the waffle sticks? I haven't seen one of those makers. Interesting. We got a couple sprinkles according to Roger. I never saw it with all the running done today.

Marianne,, good idea with the money jars. For me, I have too many low calorie days so haven't been losing at all. "Don't have time" for 3 meals a day and seem to just grab and run for a lunch.

emoticon to everyone. Have a fabulous Friday!!

Arlene, sure hope your son can find a good job where he is now. I have a couple of family members interviewing and trying to find better jobs, which might be a move in their future.

TC, as horrible as tapeworms are, that has to be better and cheaper than heart worms. May your day off come soon! emoticon

Deborah, so sorry to hear about your MIL, and safe travels on the trip. She sounds like a remarkable lady.

Sharon, jewelry making class sounds interesting. It’s absolutely pouring rain here today but won’t last long. At least the garden is getting a good soak. Two days ago I couldn’t get onto Spark for about 3 hours, but could go online to other sites.

I’m trying a new strategy to get through the holidays without gaining weight. I set up 2 mason jars and will put $2 in one each day I stick to my calorie range. That is my “reward” $ to spend on something extravagant. Each day I go over my calorie range, I’m putting $2.50 in the “give away” jar. Hopefully the pain will motivate me, LOL. I haven’t decided what to do with the giveaway $ yet, so still thinking. I just can’t donate to a charity I don’t support. emoticon

Morning!
Norm is busy cleaning our bedroom carpet with the Bissell cleaner this morning! It was raining when we woke up so he thought that was a good inside project. Now the sun is out and it's beautiful out so I think he's ready to be done.

I made waffle sticks for breakfast this morning. In the MH I have a small waffle maker that makes 4 sticks to a batch. I have found that one of the small muffin mixes makes 4 batches which is 2 ea, perfect! So we dip the sticks in S/F syrup. It's too much carbs but I'm not counting carbs right now so they tasted good. BTW, I am not counting carbs and my steps are really low but my weight is sticking the same, up and down the proverbial lb! Doesn't give me a big desire to go back on low carb!

This afternoon is my first jewelry class, should be fun!

I am finding the WiFi is not completely dependable here. Yesterday I couldn't get on to post so if I'm quiet it's not because you are forgotten.

Deborah - I am so sorry about your MIL's health and the quick trip. I think it's great that you can go back for your DH's sake. We had that with Norm's mom. She was so active and good up until she turned 94 then she went downhill rather quickly. I pray I can be healthy and active til my 90's! We met people that have their residence in SD but we don't know anything to help you, sorry.

Arlene - I hope your DS can find local employment! That would be a nice Christmas present!

My day was strange. Out to get the groceries for out church dinner Sun. as well as looking for new blinds for our kitchen and dining room. So several stops. I have not really recovered from all the work at mom's so it was a little tough. While grocery shopping at our last stop, my beautician called and had a cancellation. wondered if I could be there in 30-45 mins. So hurried home helped put groceries away and ran to the beauty shop as I would have had to wait another week. So glad!! But I forgot to go and get the music pulled for choir tomorrow and it's a very busy day. Have lab work drawn in the hall at 7 AM, eat, take a few mins to get a key and start getting the music, card day, and then choir. Hope I can get it done.

Deborah, I am sorry about your MIL. Abbot is the best place for her too. I used to work there but the smaller hospitals send many pts. there. She sounds like a fisty lady. My mom is 91 and very much inactive but does go to the hall to play cards at night. No exercise at all and I can see her failing some now. As far as the SD issue, we have several friends that have done this and it didn't seem to be too difficult for them. They all have said it's quick and easy but MN. has been trying to stop the flow to SD. No ties, no problem.

Arlene, hoping good luck for your son! It's so hard to make those decisions and then begin the hunt.

Hi to everyone. Busy times for sure.

Deborah - So sorry about your MIL. She seems to have been doing great for her age but it's still hard to see. My SIL went through something similar. A medical treatment she was getting years ago for severe arthritis took it's toll on her liver. We lost her this last January.

I know some of you remember me telling you about our son and his job. I had also told you we hadn't heard any news from him. I called him last night to talk to him. As we thought they don't want to leave the city so he is job hunting. He's had a few answers but so far nothing else. So hopefully there will be some good news some where along the line.

Today was a much cooler day with wind which my body still doesn't like. Tomorrow it's supposed to be a bit better. It looks like we're going to be doing a bit of a roller coaster for a while. Which I guess I won't complain about as long as we don't get the deep freeze stuff to stay.

Well I best go get clothes out of the dryer.
Later,
Arlene

I am not able to read posts until sat so will not respond. Exercise done. Eventful day. Found out my brand new tire was slashed and lost air just as I pulled into driveway at home. I had free towing service and had to pay for balancing and installation but got tire free from warranty. We found out the 1 dog has tapeworms and $80 later per dog they are being treated. Darn fleas... of which I have only seen 1 and they get treated every 30 days for it. Got walk in between tire being fixed. Working next 2 days so off to bed. TC

Good afternoon all-I just booked a flight to MN, leaving out Monday. DH mom is not doing well and currently at Abbott Northwest hospital in Minneapolis. The meds she's been taking the last few years to keep the leukemia in remission have started playing havoc with her lung function and now she keeps filling up with fluid. She is ninety and has been doing remarkably well living alone, driving (yes!), mowing the yard, building things in her workshop. Simply an amazing, independent little lady. But, her oncologist told her and the family the other day that she is on a downhill slide and this time she is not likely to improve. SO...DH has a real urgency to get back and see her/spend some time with her while he can. I agreed so off we go this coming Monday.

DH and I had agreed several days ago to use South Dakota as our permanent residence using a mail forwarding service. TX, FL, SD and MT are the only states that have this service now for folks like us who are full-time RVers. So, we will take a little side trip to SD while we are back in MN and establish residency in SD. It only takes a one night stay at a campground or hotel and then we'll take the receipt from that stay, go to the mail-forwarding place in Madison and get the rest of the paperwork done. We also plan on going to the nearest DMV and getting our SD driver's license and also register the pickup and RV as well. Wow, I am tired thinking about it! But, it will be worth the hassle to get all that taken care of. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

I've got about a hundred things to do before we leave so I may not post again until we return on the 26th. I want to wish all of you the most blessed Thanksgiving. I know I am grateful for each of you!

Be safe out there.

Card club day. Mom was my partner this round and we got our rears kicked good. I spent the afternoon at mom's as she can't reach the upper shelves for her food and has food all over the counter. She agreed to have her canisters on the counter and the food up. I cleaned the cupboards out and got everything organized in groups and to where it's reachable. That took a couple hrs. Came back to the house and crashed. Headache from the heat. Sure do wish I could tolerate anything warm when working!! At least I am "sweating it out" just like I would exercising!! (LOL)

Re; the rain. It was so dry here that the water soaked in rather fast. We did have a couple muddy spots by the drive/patio but tomorrow they will probably be dry too. The rest of the RGV didn't get what we did. It seems the cell kind of trained over our area.

Tomorrow we are going turkey shopping for our church dinner on Sun. and also going to look for new blinds for our dining area. We have 5 big windows and the blinds get the morning sun and are brittle. Will see what we find.

Hi, I've tried to read some of the posts. I've been busy working on my Christmas cars, the ones for friends that are close and I don't have to send them through the mail. The USP would destroy them and I put too much work into them to have that happen. lol.

We're having a very nice day, don't know how long it will last but will take it. I do have the patio door open because I am having to run the oven cleaner, I managed to have some food run over the other day.

Well I better get back to work. Will try to get some more post read later.

Thanks everyone. Feeling so much better today. I actually got on the treadmill. The flu shot does not bother me, I have had one pneumonia and it did not bother me. So not sure as to why this one did.

Marianne where is your storm coming from? Send it my way. I work the weekend and would love a good storm to watch.

Jacque congrats on the move and close to something that you like. My idea place would be near a mountain.

Good morning all,

Annie, I’m sorry you had such a bad reaction to the pneumonia shot. We’ve gotten them, with not much of a reaction. My arm was sore for a day or two. We also get the annual flu shot - I had to drag DH kicking and screaming but his cardiologist was insistent. Some years I get the flu and some years not; always wonder if it’s “mind over matter” sometimes, lol.

Jacque, how nice to be moving into an apartment, and close to the beach!

Eileen, hope there’s time for the rain to soak in before you get more. We’re looking at a serious storm later this week.

Becky, DH would be dragging Christmas decorations out after Halloween if I agreed. emoticon It is a lot of work.

Tammy, emoticon on getting those exams done. My grandkids have all of Thanksgiving week off, sure never happened when I was teaching and could have used the time to prepare. emoticon

Sharon, I’d love to see pictures of the pool, glad you were able to spend time there. And of course, Mexican food (and margaritas) are my favorite. emoticon We just got our RV back from the shop after weeks of waiting for the new slide to arrive and be installed so now we’re going to at least one club outing before Christmas.

I decided not to accept any sub jobs this week and had plans to go through piles of “stuff” yesterday. A friend called Pete and wanted him to help her with a tech problem and he didn’t want to go alone, so after three hours, I lost my mojo, LOL. Today should be better.

Well, we finally got our feet wet in the swimming pool yesterday! We spent the afternoon down at the pool. Lovely time with some new found friends. I was going to take pictures but when I picked my phone up, it beeped low battery so I left it home charging. Perhaps next time!

We went to Pep's for lunch yesterday and discovered it is a Mexican restaurant which we didn't know. (There aren't that many sit down restaurants in Portland) We really enjoyed it and decided we would go back over the winter!

Today is sunny, breezy and high temps near or over 80. Another beautiful day.

Eileen - we didn't get as much rain as you. It is breezy here but nothing like the winds of last year. It's nice that you are willing to work on the choir music. You work really hard from now until after the Holidays! Don't wear yourself out.

Annie - sorry for the reaction you got from the flu shot. Neither my DH or I get the shot. I did last year and felt crappy for 2 days. My dr says you can't get the flu from the shot and I'm sure the actual flu would last longer but two days of feeling crappy is not for me!

Jacque - another move! I don't envy you the physical work of moving everything but it sounds like it will be great for you. So close to the beach and having a friend to share expenses with can't be bad!

Tammy - enjoy the Thanksgiving Dinner today.

I gave exams yesterday and had two classes graded by the time I went to bed. That leaves one class to do today, along with errands. Tomorrow the employees at the campus have the "annual Thanksgiving dinner" - since I will be there anyway, I will bring a small cold vegetable tray and eat and visit in the middle of my day. The "annual Christmas dinner" will be on a Thursday, so I probably won't choose to attend it.

Last night as I was finishing up, it began to rain. It was heavy enough to hear well on the roof. This AM when I got up, it was still raining. Had a meeting at the hall at 10 AM and had to go through a heavy rain. All total we got 3.5". It was needed here but all at one time makes lakes around the place. The city has hooked out sump system for the park into their system and it's drained well.

Worked on the choir music today. Tomorrow or Weds. will be making up the folders for the choir practice on Thurs.

Sharon, hoping things will settle down. I just don't like to be in the center of all of it. Just going to do my job and go home. The kitchen is my position:-)D

Chris, Hi. Good to hear from you! We were closer to you this fall as we did travel 281 down but of course timing was a problem and I believe that was one of your Good Sam campouts. We did travel 11,125 miles this spring/summer. So glad that Matt came through this well and is healthy.

Tammy, we enjoy the Mennonite and Amish communities with their homemade foods and gifts. Great price on the apples!

Ruthann, I hope your cousin can accept your help until you can't any longer. That's a difficult situation.

Marianne, Roger was just talking about this type of tire. He was surprised that all of them work as advertised! We would get different ones too.

Annie, I have to admit I don't get the flu of pneumonia shots as I can't recall the last time I was ill with either. I do recall when working in the ED a few yrs. before retiring and took a blood pressure. She turned her head towards me and coughed in my face. I was sick with her crud within 24 hrs. That's the last I recall. I am going to get the shingles one though. That's one you never know when it might hit especially when they say 1 out 3 develop shingles.

WG, enjoy your Princess!!

TC, hope Mike gets his dog in and cared for.

Becky, do you know how much rain you got? The humidity today was heavy!! Haven't had time to think about Christmas!! Thanksgiving is coming and going before I get to the decorating too.

Jacque, good to hear from you too. I bet is is exciting to get into an apt. especially when it's so close to the beach.

Hi to all I have missed.

Ok I haven’t posted in forever again so not going to try and find my last one.
I’ve been going pretty much nonstop this past week.
Am getting ready to move into an apt with a friend later this week. I’m very excited about this, as the apt is only a block off the beach. Back to walking for me. Yay.
I had a long weekend. Not enough sleep Saturday night and then a 15 hr work day Sunday. Definitely am feeling my age today. Probably the first time in my life I’ve ever said that lol.
TC, hope Mike got the dog to the vet I know you’re stressing about it.
Ruthann have a good time on your 12 days of thanksgiving
Sharon, it sounds like you’re enjoying your winter digs so far. How fun to meet someone who lives so close to you.
Chris glad to see you back and that Matt had a good report

To all I missed I hope all is well with you

Hi everyone
It has been raining raining and humid. I wish it was just a little cooler. I know most of you want the opposite. Got the Christmas tree down and am going to put it up. My son protested but I told him it takes me much longer to get Christmas decorations up. I cant do it in one day any more.

Annie hope you feel better my DH got his shots and did not feel good for 2 days. The doctor said it was not the shot. REALLY

Hi everyone. Read the posts but it's been a few days and I'm expecting Princess Sofia so I won't respond.

Hope all are well and things go as hoped or planned so you can continue your week with minimal disturbance.

Take care.

The camper is winterized. Sad. Did not get to do as much camping as hoped. Maybe next year.

BS are still hi. Eating well, but Dr says that stress could be causing it. Makes sense.

Has anyone gotten their pneumonia shot? I just got my second one and that night I was sick, headache, muscle aches, hot and cold, sweated so bad through the night that my blanket was even wet. This was last Thursday. Today my upper arm is still red. Anyone else have this problem?

We are enjoying the weather here - woke up with gray overcast skies but that's cleared out and it is partly (mostly) sunny and 77 degrees! I run on the parks WiFi and notice that I have all my issues when it is overcast. But no problems today!

Chris - I am so glad to hear Matt's good news. I pray he continues to be clear! We have still not joined a Good Sam's Chapter but sounds like you are still going strong with your monthly rally.

Tammy - I love to make home made apple sauce (chunky) so I would have taken some of those apples!

TC - hope your work day is going better. And I hope Mike gets his dog to the vet! Then be sure and use the prevention meds in the future. Your pet is too important to not!

Ruthann - it does make it difficult to pack everything in the car and then transfer it when you get to the MH. Too bad it isn't closer that you could bring it home like we do to load it. Even though it's extra work, I know you will have a blast and really enjoy your Thanksgiving. I hope we hear from you while you're gone but if you go silent, at least we will know why!

Marianne - that's the pits about the tires. Sometimes those expensive choices prove to be not so good! I can imagine you and Pete must be upset having to be towed and all.

Sharon - my home is in Zeeland, MI
