Great, thanks. I'll have to pick that one up. It's not in my small collection.

This month we're reading Christine, there is a current forum open for it. That other forum is a little out of date, we keep one going for each new month's reading.

My favorite would have to be Rage under Bauchman. I know it's short, but I adored it and have read it many times. Cell is another one. I couldn't put it down. Come to think of it, I need to get my copy back from Mom.

That is a really hard question, the one I have read over and over is Pet Cemetary but I'm not sure it would be my fave. hmmm, I really enjoyed Under the Dome and would give it a thumbs up emoticon

I agree it's hard to pick just one, but if I had to choose I too would have to say The Stand. Amazing piece of literature there!

I would have to agree with many of you and name The Stand, I have read it so many times that I have worn out my first copy and had to purchase a second, allowing me to finally get the extended version.

I love them all...but I love the Dark Tower series...I agree with an earlier comment...I think for Stephen King...that was a HAPPY ending. I was SOOOO sad when I finally finished. I felt like there was nothing left in the world that could follow that...but then I realised...Stephen King is still writing...thank goodness for that !!!! I loved how he interwove themes from his other books into the Dark Tower and even had himself featured....absolute brilliance. Plus I share a birthday with him....the date not the year...lol

Replying to Gerbear ~ Yep, "ka" is a wheel, indeed! I love the DK series. emoticon At first, I hated the ending but the more I thought about it, I realized that it ended exactly how it had to end.

The same way I felt about the end of "The Sopranos", actually! emoticon

The Stand, IT, Needful Things, The Green Mile, The Dark Tower series, The Dark Half, Insomnia, Pet Cemetery, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. :D

The Dark Tower series is my most favorite. I am weird and find romanticism in the dystopian world in it.

my favorite series by stephen king is FOR SURE dark tower. (also my favorite series of all time). but i think a very very close second to it is the book IT. I loved that book.

i cant read the last half of book seven in the dark tower. it makes me sad all over again that it's finished.

Oh thanks but I can't take the credit. I don't know who the author is of that poem but it wasn't me.

Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---

I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
"Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

SK wrote so many good books and it is difficult to select a favorite. i like different books because they accurately portray certain characters. i think the senior citizens in The Green Mile were described so well possibly because SK and his mother cared for his grandparents. Also in the book, Blaze, the main character might have been accurately described because SK's mother worked in an institution for the mentslly challenged. i liked both books equally.
