Tuesday: Well, yesterday was so cold. Today is supposed to be cold, too, but maybe a little less bitter. Snow Ė more snow. 2-3 in. over night here, but I feel lucky. Areas north got MUCH more.

Just going to be homebodies today. Feels good to do that.

Happy Tuesday.

Sunday: Snow, snow, snow, snow, snow. Clearing the driveway will be a long process, but will just do what I can. Donít have to be anywhere, so thatís a GOOD thing.

Hugs and blessings.

Melissa: That is truth about humans freezing! LOL I shoveled/cleared 9 in. of snow this morning and was so cold when I got inside. Had a fire in the fireplace. Helped!

I hear you on the meat. I don't eat a lb. a day, but I do have meat usually daily.

Stay warm, stay safe.

My body loves meat, and all of mine right now is from local grass-fed sources. I easily eat up to a pound a day, plus some eggs and dairy, although I may cut back on the dairy, because that's the thing I cannot get from good sources as easily right now. I also added some scallops in with my T-bone steak yesterday, yum, and so far so good. I'm definitely less hungry when my protein is high.

This should be the last really cold morning for a while, it is -1 right now, but overnight lows are at least in double digits for the next 10 days, which is much better. Some are in the 20s! It's amazing how excited I get about 25 degree weather this time of year. Still, the negative stuff is killer, which makes sense, because the 0 point on the Fahrenheit scale is about when salt-water freezes - so I always say it's when humans freeze (not completely accurate, because we are made of fats too, and those don't freeze until dry ice temps).

Alright, church this morning is about folklore and fairy tales, and I did the music including songs from Into the Woods and Beauty and the Beast, so I'm excited.

Saturday: This is Zoom Breakfast Day! Wonderful. Looks like this afternoon is when the snow starts. Anywhere now from 6-10 in.

This going to be an interesting weekend with the snow.

Talked w/Clara after her hearing yesterday. She and Nick need to work out division of property. IMHO, thatís a farce for many reasons, but, thatís what they have to do. She didnít want to talk about it much, but did say that they have till 23 February to do this, the sooner the better. And if they canít do it themselves, then it is done by the court. What can be said.

Hugs and enjoy Saturday.

Friday: Well, looks like we are in for 4-8 in. of snow this weekend. Nooooo!

Jas had a good PT session yesterday! Now heíll start once/week. Progress.

Going to go to the bank drive through the bank drive through and thatís all the chores needed to be done out.

Hugs and TGIF.

Michelle: Cold! It was cold here yesterday, too, even though the sun was out. Out today, too, but a little warmer (28F @ present).

Ohhhhhh I hear you. Miss Lilly is a little persnickety thing when it comes to pooping! Has to be just the right spot and she will get too cold, too, and want to come in before sheís done her Ďthangí. At least today itís not so cold.

Good luck w/your shift to more meat. Hope it helps. I know sometimes my body craves meat more than others. NOT that I eat a lot of meat anyhow, but . . . when my body wants it, I feed it good quality meat.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Happy Friday! It was 1 degree out, and "feels like" -15 this morning, plus we are under a wind chill advisory (frostbite in 30 minutes), so no running or dog walking yet today! I did manage to get them both out for basics without it being an issue. The chihuahua is no problem, but my pug is mad finicky and will not find a spot to pee, then get too cold and want to go back inside. I'll probably take them out this afternoon once the sun's been up for a bit. There is some sun, so, hey, at least that.

Today I finally have some time to get my actual work done, which is good, although I'll definitely be working all over the weekend as well to be ready for Tuesday.

My weight has been creeping up again for, as far as I can tell, no reason. I don't track macros/calories consistently, but I have an awareness of what I eat, and none of it is junk, plus I run almost every day. So, I'm doing a refocus, I figure this is a good time to do a few weeks of near carnivore, so I'm going to cook up some good leaner meats, get some seafood, and simplify for winter. That makes sense both seasonally and anthropologically. Also, it will be easier in terms of not having to think much about what I'm eating while getting back into school mode - cook meat, eat meat. I can manage that.

No day but today ...

I think we only ended up with 6 inches, but super wet and heavy, and my snow blower did not play nice with some of the stuff at the bottom of the driveway, but mostly it wasn't a problem.

Still a few more meetings today, and I am having "Meet Your Instructor" open office hours, so maybe some of my students will stop by early to say hello on Zoom.

Other than that, not much happening in my world, work, work, work!

Wednesday: 8 inches of snow in total. Got the drive cleared and made it to my hair cut appointment. Hurray. Felt so good.

Wow! Week is going fast. PT today for Jason.

Hugs

Melissa: Glad you'll have time to work on your class stuff!

We ended up w/8 in. Heavy wet stuff. At least the sun was out today.

Same here on the snow, not sure yet what we ended up with because I haven't been outside, but it was probably about 4 inches when I went to bed. I'll find out soon though because I gotta get the dogs out in about an hour and get my run in. I did just get new rubber booties for them, so that's good.

Today is far less Zoom meetings than the last two days, which should give me time to actually work on some of my class stuff.

Survived the day of meetings! Today is also all Zooms, but it is professional development, and I'm presenting more sessions than I am attending, which is my preference. I'm doing one on online class hacks for ADHD students, one where I (as a microbiologist by training) will answer science questions about COVID, and I'm part of our bi-annual Safe Space training for LGBTQ acceptance/inclusion, although I'm mostly just running the tech for that last one.

I also survived a very, very cold run yesterday morning. I actually broke it into two parts and grabbed the dogs in between so I could warm up a bit. Today is better, but a bunch of snow, then the cold again. At least I'm flexible the rest of the week and could run in the afternoon.

I still have to work on my actual class sites, but I guess that won't be until later tonight or tomorrow.

Wow, that Breakfast Burger Bagel sounds really good. I don't actually eat bagels anymore, but I could replace that with a low-carb fathead bagel and make my own hash browns. Maybe I'll try it sometime. Not for breakfast this week though, because I am back to work, so I have to be online at things by 9am most days. My church is having a Zoom breakfast meet-up Saturday, so that could be a fun thing for that.

Today is my least favorite day of Spring semester, because it is all large scale stuff, which is usually things I don't need to sit through when I could be working, so we have the all-school session from 9-10 and department sessions from 10-12 and 1:30-3. At least the first one will be webinar format, so I can put it on my ipad and make breakfast, but the other ones I'm supposed to pretend like I'm involved. Still, I'm quite good at multi-tasking while on Zoom, which is good, because I have lots of class stuff to still work on.

Saturday: Weíre going to have our video breakfast. Havenít decided what Iíll make for breakfast, but itíll be something involving bagels! Ah, Breakfast Burger Bagel take-out. Scrambled eggs w/ham and cheddar cheese, on top of a sirloin burger sandwiched in a bagel w/hash browns. At least 2 meals out of this. Itís ginormous.

Snow, snow, snow expected.

HUGS and enjoy Saturday.

We reached a high of 23. Lower tonight Ė in the teens. Snow. Drat!

Man, your crazy kids!

Yesterday was pretty boring for me, just getting things done. I did pick up meat from all my local vendors so I think I now have about a month's worth of local meat! Good timing because I'm back to work Monday. One of the things I bought is a 10lb smoked pork shoulder, so after a day in the crockpot, I'll have meals for a week and a half!

Glad it is Friday, but I have a lot to do to be ready for Feb. 2nd classes plus meetings next week, so I'll probably be doing class stuff this weekend.

Thursday: Well, just ugh. John had his CT scan of the liver and got the results. Apparently another challenge he has is a cyst in the liver. The Dr. said that could be part of the reason for the liver inflammation. So, now he has to see another specialist to see what can be done. **SIGH** Just ready to wave the white flag.

Claraís court date now is 29 January. She is so conflicted about it, but is going forward, at least that part is good.

She hasnít been feeling good either. She has stress-related eczema (sheíd get that periodically as a kid). She also has possible female problems. Enough is enough! Her Dr. recommended a therapist to her, and sheís going to make an appointment. I am glad about that, as she really does need that.

So, the beat goes on. I just pray life straightens out for these 2 kids. I am getting to the overwhelmed stage.

HUGS

Melissa: Good for you for getting the shoveling done. WE did that yesterday as our cold weather settled in. Makes it difficult to remove snow when it gets so frozen!

I opted for shoveling instead of running this morning. We didn't have much snow, maybe an inch and a half, but I prefer to get it out of the driveway and off the sidewalk rather than just let it get pounded down under shoes and car tires. It doesn't look like much more snow coming this month, but the cold temps are about to settle in for a week.

It is cold and windy here. 8F right now. And had about an inch of snow overnight. Thatís ok. No place we have to be, thankfully.

Have to get the kitchen deep cleaned. That will take a bit of time today. It will feel good to have that done.

I managed to wake up, get moving, and give a good presentation yesterday. The cold is also coming in my way. I'm looking at upcoming temperatures and thinking that it is good that I recently bought three pairs of fleece lined leggings.

I've been keeping up with my running, but January sure doesn't make it easy. However, I'm at 60 miles for the month, so if I can just keep pushing my 3 miles per day, I'll get to 100, and I can usually do that in any weather. I just have to cover my ears. My ears get really cold!

Happy Tuesday!

I'm tired this morning, I don't think it is actually lack of sleep, but I'm at the lowest estrogen point in my cycle, which throws off my focus and increases my pain levels, and all of that makes me feel more tired. I gotta wake myself up, because I'm presenting to the college President and Cabinet in about 2.5 hours! I'm not worried, I still have to walk the dogs, and dong that in the cold when the sun is coming up actually gets me moving pretty well. I'm also a good presenter, so I know I'll nail it no matter what.

Happy Birthday to Jason yesterday! Hope you all had a nice time. The food sounds delicious.

Today is one of those "not holidays" for me because I gotta get work done. I have a complete plan for the week that includes everything I have to do, so now I just have to stick to it! It's funny, people don't like Mondays, but I actually do, I always feel the most motivated and ready to rock and roll, probably because I love what I do.

Sunday: Today is Jasonís 69th birthday. So, weíre just celebrating here @ home. Made waffles for breakfast (his request). Supper is going to be an Al Capone roast I got from the butcher. It is pork wrapped around pork sausage I believe thereís salami in there, and tenderloin w/mozzarella cheese. It is delicious. Never had it before this butcher introduced me to it. Itís a nice treat.

Otherwise, made chocolate cupcakes for him. Thatís what he wanted. So there you have it. The party animals. Then he decided he wants blueberry muffins, so I bought his favorite. He decided he wants those tonight. Men, they change their minds, too!

The snow has been on and off, but not accumulating too much on the ground, only a couple of inches at most. A little slippery this morning, but I ran on the backroads which were not bad.

My butt and my back are not super thrilled about having been in a chair for most of the last three days, but the anti-racism work I've been doing is fantastic, so I'll take it.

Saturday: Zoom breakfast today. Need it!! Just makes the week better.

Had 2 in. of heavy, wet snow overnight. Got that cleared.

HUGS and have a good Saturday!

Melissa: Snow on the ground here, too, but not too much. Miss LiIlly has definite opinions about disliking snow.

Good luck w/your meeting. Hope it goes well.

Well, I walked over the grocery store at 6am, and it was somewhere between snow/rain, with almost no accumulation when I got back by 6:45. Then, by the time I got the dogs bundled up and ready to walk outside by 7:20, there was already almost a 1/2 inch of snow on the ground! The pug likes snow, the chihuahua is iffy on it. We did okay, and now it is still snowing. I'm going to have to do some shoveling during the extended lunch break of my conference! That's probably good, otherwise its just me in front of the computer ALL DAY!

Friday: Felt good to take Jason for a haircut. And he did well in PT. So, good day.

Rain/snow mix overnight. UGH. Looks like itís stopped for now. Ah well, no place we have to be today, so thatís a good thing.

Hugs and enjoy FriYaY!

Melissa: Oh, my Miss Lilly is an early riser. Shen she decides to get up a little later, thatís a celebration!

Conference call here later, as well. Gotta look presentable! LOL

Have a good FriYaY and weekend.

Haha, Friday Eve, I like it!

I'm hanging out on my recliner this morning with my two dogs snoring on my lap. They are so lazy. People are always like, "dogs get you up in the morning" and I'm like, not mine, they will sleep in forever. I'm letting them sleep for now since the sun isn't up for another almost hour anyway. Once it is not freezing in the mornings, I let them sleep and go running before I even get them out of their cages, but I don't like to run in the dark when it's below freezing due to ice.

I think I'll also meal plan this morning. I have an online conference most of the day tomorrow, so I will probably try to hit the grocery store early for once. It's nice when I can pull that off, because no one is there!

Yesterday, I did a few hangs and one reverse pull-up (jump up and come down slowly), so I'm happy with it so far. It's upstairs where my office is so when I take my short breaks between work I can just grab it. I'm trying to add some squats and push-ups in those breaks as well. I'm not too consistent yet, but I have been making the computer shout at me to go instead of working straight through for hours, which I have been known to do

Got a good run in decent weather yesterday, and I'll probably run today and tomorrow as well before the snow hit.

Wednesday: Went to the store to p/u produce yesterday. In and out, thank goodness. Gray day to start out, but now the sun is out! Supposed to get up to 40F. Apparently precipitation later. That comes later tonight and into tomorrow.

Going to have a RING installed for Clara. HOPEFULLY that helps.

Clara is very glad she has this new job lined up and now has to look for a new apartment. Glad .that sheíll have that new fresh start.

Jason has PT and weíll see how that goes.

Hugs and have a wonderful Wednesday (hard to believe itís Wednesday already!)

Melissa: My DS had a pull-up bar that he used . Didn't hurt anything. So good luck!

Pretty good meeting yesterday, and I actually spent about half of it standing, so it worked out well enough. Afterwards, it was still light and not freezing, so I also took the pups for an afternoon mini-walk. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be reasonable weather, but I hear we might be in for a pretty big storm over the weekend. Super glad church is online!

I bought a pull-up bar. My husband does not understand the mechanics and is pretty sure I'm going to break a door, but I'm convinced of the physics. I cannot do a pull-up yet, but I intend to work at it until I can.

Tuesday: Well, one good thing happened for Clara. Sheíd applied for a job @at a clinic working the afternoon shift. She got the job yesterday. Starts on 02 February. That means sheíll be moving. Thank goodness. And she is NOT going to tell Nick that she is changing jobs. AMEN to that. NOR where sheís moving to.

Otherwise, Jas had PT and did very well. Still continues to make slow but steady progress.

So that wraps up Monday. Ready for TUESDAY.

Hugs

Melissa; Our weather is back to seasonal. UGLY as far as it is gray and gloomy. But no precipitation, so that's all right.

Well, we are back to acceptable January weather, 20s-30s, and it looks like we might see 40 by Friday, but it also looks to be followed by a bunch of snow, so that's about right.

I had a good day yesterday, got a run in, got things done. Today, I'm mostly tied up in a meeting but it is the faculty caucus of all SUNY community colleges, so it is a good group doing important work, and my sub committee is quite efficient, so no complaints. I will probably try to get some exercises in during the meeting, and a walk at the lunch break, otherwise I'm just sitting in front of the screen from 9:30-2:30!

Happy Monday!

I had a pretty chill weekend, not many of those left for me, so I take what I can. Once classes are rolling I almost always end up doing work on weekends.

Too cold for much good running, but temps are back slightly up this week, so I'll be back out there. Generally, I consider Jan to be an "off season" month anyway, so I'm only doing short runs (10K or less) and aiming for my minimum 100 miles for the month, and I'm at 31 right now, so I'm on target.

I have a good plan to get some stuff done this week, so I am ready to rock and roll!

Sunday: So enjoyed the sun yesterday.

Just so tired of the drama that Claraís damn soon-to-be-ex creates. Got a TRO on him yesterday. Clara didnít want to stay w/us, but is staying w/a friend for a few days. She has an appointment with an advocate on Monday, so hopefully she will get some help there. Also has to advise her atty. of the events of the weekend. **SIGH**

Otherwise, Jason and I are at least calmed down.

Hugs and blessings on your Sunday.

Thursday: Nothing that happened personally yesterday matters. All overshadowed by the events in DC yesterday. Sadly, tragically, 4 people died from wounds inflicted. Prayers for them and those who held them dear.

Hugs and MANY prayers for our country.

Happy Thursday! I was only half productive yesterday because I had the news on all afternoon to follow along in the crazy, but it was nice to wake up and see that democracy did the thing, so better for now!

I get meat today! One of the new items in my pick-up is lamb hearts. I've done beef, veal, and pig, but not lamb, so I'm excited to try a new-ish cut. I also have shaved steak and mutton chops, neither of which I've had in a while. They feel like winter meats.

Gonna get really cold overnight tonight in my neck of the woods, and for the next few days. I'm ready. My tiny doggos, not so much! They'll deal though.

Nice afternoon run yesterday since the temps popped up above freezing, and it may be the last time for about a week that happens.

I did get a good productive amount done in the last two days, finished one of the four classes I have to work on, and made a plan for the next one, so I'm ready to roll.

Today I actually got up early and worked for a while, and made progress on my online lab, so that's great!

Today is going to be the highest temperatures all week at a whopping 36 degrees, so my buddy and I are getting in an afternoon run before the cold hits. I'll run in every temperature, but he's pickier, so we watch the weather for days to run together.

Other than that, I'm just plodding along on stuff I want to get done before the semester starts. There's always more stuff than time, but I think I have a good prioritized plan.

Well, we had some slush and ice over the weekend, but nothing too bad, and although last night was supposed to be more snow, my bit of the valley only got about a half inch dusting, so that's fine by me!

It looks like we might get away with very little snow this week, but it is supposed to get pretty cold by Friday.

I got up early this morning! Trying to get myself back on a regular schedule ahead of my classes starting up in a few weeks. I had success getting up, but not as much getting myself to do work yet, but I'm fine with baby steps!

Sunday: Had a nice Zoom breakfast w/our friends yesterday. I just poached eggs and we had sourdough toast and has browns, as well. Easy Peasy.

Had a nice Saturday. There was sun for about 5 minutes, the rest of the day cloudy. But did get Miss Lilly for a walk. She was happy about that.

Foggy and icy today. Guess itís supposed to be the same tomorrow. Glad weíre not traveling anywhere!

4 in. of snow on the ground and got out there to clear it, too, as it's gonna be well below freezing tonight.

Oh, I always love the Twilight Zone marathon! One of my favs.

We got a lovely wintery mix overnight leaving a layer of slush on everything, and although it is above freezing right now, it will be below freezing by evening, so this has all the makings of icing over everything. Fortunately, I realized this and went out and removed all the slush from my surfaces and cars, and put out salt (and bought more). I still think tomorrow morning might be a sh*t show, but I don't have anywhere to go anyway! Hooray Zoom church services!

Speaking of Zoom church services, tomorrow we are talking about Hope, so I did a version of The Chicks song "I Hope" and a cute video to my piano player's rendition of Moon River with a bunch of quotes about hope. However, we are ending the service with Woody Guthrie's "So Long, It's Been Good to Know You" in which I have many pictures of waving away 2020, and 2020 on toilet paper, and as a dumpster fire, and one that says "You're Fired". I had fun with that one.

Alright, I do have plans to get some stuff done today (all indoors), so I'm off to do that!

Happy New Year!

We went to bed normal time last night, but were woken up by fireworks and dogs barking at fireworks at midnight anyway, oh well!

I went for a run with a group of local runner this morning, so I now have a 3 year streak of running on New Year's Day! Also - I have run every day this year ... you know, so far.

Hope y'all had a good New Year's celebration (or whatever you opted for) and are having a good start to the year!
