what you are saying about loosing weight and inches is so true. So many folks take the simple idea of calories, eat fewer calories, burn more calories and that is how to loose weight (i.e. body fat). To a degree that is true of course, but the choice of food is huge for weight loss, that is the surprise.

The surprise is how much carbs make weight loss hard.

Biggest surprise of all was that I could actually lose weight and inches, consistently without extreme exercise. I wish I could say I never have a craving because I do especially with change of seasons. The old memories still pop up. If I am preparing something I cant eat for someone, my mantra is: that is not my food, that is not my food! And so it goes...

I love that I am never hungry and I have no cravings. But I stay on Keto because The few times when I have eaten more than 20 carbs, my pains return in my feet, legs, and back.

I am surprised that pizza pasta and fresh bread have already lost their appeal. James I know what you mean about the diabetic muddled mind. Also I have much fewer mood swings .

its pretty amazing how are cravings are driven my our primitive brain, and how much that is influenced by things like blood sugar levels. Its not just an internal battle of willpower ... thank goodness !!!

I'm surprised after a 17 months in ketosis I'm not tempted by sweets or carbs anymore. I'm even watching the British Baking Show with no problem!

i am never hungry. be sure you are getting enough calories..you do not need to eat at a deficit for keto to be effective...try a min of 1800 cals.

My little snacks are typically cheese or some sort of sausage. Individually wrapped cheese sticks, or pepperoni sticks are easy to take with, and survive well with no refrigeration.

I'm a type-2 diabetic, so my feelings of hunger may not be normal. I'm rarely hungry, and when I am it is mild. But, my energy levels can drop. I feel lethargic. Even my very thinking can get fuzzy or muddled.

I was doing heavy yard work the other day. I stopped, my wife asked me to find something in the garage. I very slowly prodded to go get it. That is my hunger sign. After supper, ... energy levels back.

I was surprised when starting out that my stomach would feel very full but I felt a hunger because my blood sugar was low.

James, what are the little snacks that you eat when you feel hungry?

I'm surprised that I can run 10 miles with almost no carbs.

But also, I was surprised when my stomach bothered me during some of these early runs, and I realized that I needed far more electrolytes than I thought.

I was surprised (and still am) that when I get a little hungry, that a very small snack will bring my energy back. I don't need to eat a big meal.

Perhaps it was that you stayed eating Keto longer than you had planned, perhaps it was that you could walk by a box of chocolates at the office with hardly a twinge ....

One of my surprises was about 3 days into Keto. I went for a walk and nearly passed out. I didn't take my cell phone with so I couldn't call my wife to come and pick me up. I think this surprise underlined that all calories are not equal and interchangeable.

I had other surprises too, but I don't want to put them all in one post.
