I turned our team points in this morning.

I slept fairly well last night. I had difficulty getting to sleep because Marv was really anxious. I think someone set off fireworks or a couple of gun shots or something. It took him a couple of hours to settle down. Thankfully it was overcast this morning so the bright sunshine didn’t wake me up, so I was able to sleep in and actually got over 7 hours of good sleep.

It was a much cooler day today which was really nice. I really wanted to get the family room finished today so I opted not to walk or workout. I finished the family room about 4 so it was a good choice. I still have 4 rooms plus the storage room and garage to do which is kind of depressing, but I am feeling good about what I am doing and have accomplished.

@ Lesley – Our month together went so fast! I hope to see you next month.

Good job getting in a bike ride and short swim. Baby steps will get your motivation back.

I hope your day in the office went well, and your doctor visit went well.

I hope you will enjoy the Blueberry Nice cream. I really enjoyed it. I had tried plain with just bananas in the past and I wasn’t especially fond of it. I think the blueberries and the vanilla made the difference. I also think adding the small amount of milk made it creamier. Yoga was really a great practice yesterday.

Now I remember you mentioning the fungal infection on your big toe. I hope the doctor is able to get it treated. I had that many years ago and didn’t go and I ended up having to have 4 of my toenails removed. It was not a fun thing.

@ Patti – I am glad you got the leveling issue resolved. I would not be happy if a new fridge had a problem with it frosting up.

@ Latisha – How frustrating that your son’s new therapist is not able to see him until July 19th. I wish you success in finding additional resources for him. Hopefully one that lasts long enough to actually help. I am sure you will enjoy your time off work so you can work on your writing projects. I am glad you will also find some time for you to enjoy life. How old is your son?

@ Arlene – Yes, this time has been a fun one. I have really enjoyed our time together.

emoticon It has been a total pleasure sharing the month of June with all of you. I received a phone call from the agency today and my son's new therapist cannot see him until July 19 which sucks. I will of course be making more phone calls to see if I can find additional resources for him. I have a ton of writing projects to work on as well. Then, I have to find someone or some place to watch him when I return to work in August. There is always something to do and something to figure out. Believe it or not, I will find some time for myself to enjoy life.

Thanks Barbie for submitting our points.

Good morning everyone. Another hot day on tap for today. Planning on staying in where it is cool.

Lesley: The freezer part of the new fridge wants to frost up. Not bad though.

Barbie: We got the leveling fixed but the freezer part still wants to frost up a little

Latisha: Got errands done and stayed in for the rest of the day

Arlene: Yep definitely.

Good morning friends,

I didn't realize it our month is already done. It was nice chatting with you all - I wasn't going to do the July challenge and just break off spark now, but I am just not ready to go yet, so maybe I will see some of you again next month.

I did get in a bike ride and a short swim yesterday. I was proud of myself since it was so hot in the morning but I still rode for 15 minutes. I just have to keep up this motivation and things will be fine.

Today I actually am going in for work. It will be a nice change to catch the train and walk along the river to work again. It is really hot and sticky so not sure how much of a walk I will take, but it doesn't matter. I have a dr appt in town again today and its at 4pm, so going in to work will make it easier and not have to drive through all of the traffic.

@Patti - I spent some time outside too - took a long time to cool off again. I hope your fridge is working better now.

@Arlene - We eventually did go for a swim once the sun went down a bit - and it just wasn't refreshing. That's a lot of blueberries!! We need the rain too - rain predicted for later today, and tomorrow.

Sounds like a nice trip to NC. I do hope it is a bit cooler for you. It was nice getting to know you!

@Latisha - I hope your son gets assigned someone new. That was such a short program.

Enjoy having the month off. You certainly deserve it!

@Barbie - Your Blueberry Nice cream sounds yummy! I will have to try that this week. I am sorry your eye is bothering you again. I hope you enjoyed your yoga class.

I have to see the podiatrist because I have a fungal infection on my big toe. I think it was from getting a pedicure, but who knows. I need to see what they think about treating it.

Good evening Queen Bee friends.

I woke up early this morning because it was so bright in my room. I may have to buy some new drapes because the sun comes in around the blinds and it is too bright in my room too early for my liking.

Marv and I took an early morning walk and then came back and had breakfast. It worked for today, but I wouldn’t want to do it every day. After breakfast I watered and picked some more blueberries.

My eye has been really hurting all day so I didn’t get a lot accomplished. I took the day off from cleaning so I could go to yoga.

After dinner I made a yummy dessert. It was Blueberry Nice cream. It is a healthy alternative to ice cream and it was very yummy and easy. It takes 1 frozen banana, ½ cup frozen blueberries and 1 Tablespoon vanilla. Put it in the food processor until the fruit is all smooth. You can also add a little almond milk to make it smoother. I did that and it was so tasty.

I will total up my points tomorrow, hoping my eye will feel better and I can turn in our team points for the week.

@ Latisha – I hope your son is assigned a new therapist that will be helpful to him. I am sure you will enjoy your time off. I am glad you did not have any damage from flooding.

@ Arlene – I can’t believe our month together is coming to a close either. I am sorry you won’t be doing the BSG challenges for July. I will miss chatting with you. I hope you will have an amazing vacation and will be successful getting into the Biltmore Estates and hiking the Grandfather Mountain.

Good job on picking your blueberries. 8 pounds is awesome. I don’t get anywhere close to that amount, maybe next year will be a better crop.

Thanks for your encouragement on the deep cleaning. I feel like I will never get done, but I am trying not to focused on how many I have left, but that I have gotten this far. I still have 4 plus the other half of the family room. That does not include the back porch (storage room) or the garage. I hope I can keep my motivation going.

@ Patti – Good job getting in your errand and then was able to stay in and cool off. I hope you get the leveling issue resolved soon.
@ Lesley – I hope your new blood tests turn out good. Good luck in getting in the exercise. Why did you need to see a podiatrist?

Good news that Jimmy is doing well. I hope his strengthening exercises go smoothly.

I am glad you liked the bbq jackfruit. I really enjoy it and since I live alone, it provides several days of easy dinners. I liked the one that came in the BBQ sauce, but I couldn’t find it the last time I looked.

I am not sure if I will stay with the “After Spark” group on FB either. I plan to stay a part of the group for a while and see how it goes.

emoticon Happy Tuesday! Today I woke up early and dropped off my son at the program. Today was his last day. Now, we wait to see when/if they can assign him a new therapist. I was busy with work and cleaning my emails. I will be off work from July 1 - July 29. Honestly, I am really looking forward to the time off. It was stormy again today. We've got a lot of rain this week and there were floods everywhere. Unfortunately, a lot of people had floods in their homes. We were very fortunate. I did my workout today and stretches. Now, I am sparking. I will be going to be very soon. I am very tired tonight.

P.S. I really enjoyed spending time with you this month. I will submit our team points tomorrow.

Arlene - Great job picking blueberries and watering your garden/plants. No, I did not hear about the bird feeder issues. Safe travels & enjoy.

Patti - Great job running your errands in the heat. Hope you were able to stay in for the rest of the day.

Lesley - Hope your blood work comes back with no issues. Thank you for reading my blog and enjoying the journal writing inspiration.

Barbie - Great job watering your garden, going for a short walk, and jumping on your mini trampoline. Hope you were able to clean your family room. Glad you got some inspiration from reading my blog.

My week 4 points are: 1,515

Hi Queen Bees,

I can’t believe it’s already Tuesday and week 4 has come to an end. I will miss chatting together next month. I won’t be doing the BSC in July. I’ll be MIS for half the month heading to NC this time. I hope to be able to get into the Biltmore Estates and hike Grandfather Mountain. I sure hope the weather isn’t as hot as it has been here.

I picked blueberries this morning. Got about 8 pounds. DH and I then recovered the bushes. Rain has been in the forecast the last few days but it never came. So I pulled out the old hose and watered the garden and plants around the house. I started at first with the watering can but it didn’t seem like I was making any headway. Now it’s 8:30pm and I hear the thunder. I just hope we get some rain...we can use it.

Ran to the post office to mail out birthday cards for my boys. One is on the 4th and the other is the 10th. Washed more towels and sheets and remade the bed. Found a recipe for a blueberry upside down cake I’m going to try to make. I hope it comes out good.

LATISHA - It sure does feel great when you get a bunch of stuff done. Where I’m at (SW Ohio) we are having issues with birds. The ODNR doesn’t know what is going on but people have been finding dead birds in the yards or diseased birds laying on the ground. We have been asked to pull in all bird feeders until they can find the cause. They are thinking it could be bird feed that is contaminated. You might want to check to see if MI is having a similar issue. Another potential the ODNR has is that with all the cicadas, people have been seen trying to kill them with some sort of spray. The birds are feasting on the cicadas...therefore they are eating the stray too and that might be causing this bird issue. I hope they figure it out soon.

BARBIE - You have really done a lot ceep cleaning your house. How many more rooms do you have left? I hope you will be done soon so you can take a break from cleaning and perhaps do something else that you might find more enjoyable.

LESLEY - I’ve always heard diet and exercise affects so many things. As a kid, I can remember thinking how silly it was when people would say it was too hot to go swimming. But I totally understand the comment now. DH asked if I wanted to go swimming in the lake today and I told him it was too hot to go swimming.

PATTI - Yep - days like today it makes sense to stay in side with the AC on.

Good afternoon everyone. Just got back from running an errand. It is hot out there. Came home and now just cooling off.

Lesley: Yeah staying cool.

Barbie: I am glad to be able to see the doctor on Friday as well. Just to get a piece of mind about it.

The fridge is all hooked up, the freezer started to build up in ice a little so we had a neighbor come and level off the fridge. That seemed to help and then this morning the other side started so we moved the jug of ice to the front instead of in the back to see if that helps

Arlene: Trying to stay cool

Latisha: Staying cool

Good morning Queen B's,

I had my thyroid appointment yesterday. She wants more blood tests, so I go back today to get those done. She also said based on what I told her about my diet and losing weight already, the only thing left for me to do is add in exercise, 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. Tomorrow I have an appointment with a podiatrist to get my foot checked out. After I see the podiatrist, I will send a message to my PCP since he is the one that is going to need to follow up on everything with me.

Jimmy is doing well now with his stitches out - has exercises to do to strengthen his hand. We did out errands on our way home, and thought we would sit outside by the pool, but it was even too oppressive to go swimming. so we stayed indoors - today seems like it will be much of the same. Didn't get on the bike because of the heat as well. But I did get a good early morning walk in so I will take that. I'll figure out what to do later today since it will need to be indoors again.

Last night I made jackfruit after Barbie mentioned it. This one came already in BBQ sauce, but was a touch spicy, so I added some maple syrup to it to sweeten it. It was fantastic! New favorite meal!

@Patti - yup - the heat is hitting everyone now. Stay cool!

@Arlene - Same here - tried to start a new book and just couldn't get into it. It must be the heat.

@Latisha - Great job getting things done! I know you said you were off most of July - I assume it starts this weekend - when do you go back?

I read your blog and it was very inspiring for me and my journaling journey.

@Barbie - As I said earlier, I tried jackfruit last night after learning about it from you. I was amazed at how good it was. Even Jimmy enjoyed it. We are planning our meals for the week on the houseboat and this is going to be one of them - maybe several days!

I noticed you were on the "After Spark" group on FB. I don't think I am going to stay part of the group - its not what I was searching for but I don't want to leave just yet. What are your thoughts? I think KarenMarie and Linda are on there as well.

Good evening Queen Bees.

I had planned to walk when I first got up, before breakfast or anything, but my hip was hurting quite a bit so that didn’t happen. I ended up getting the garden watered instead because it gets in the sun early. It was not as hot today as it was yesterday, but it was quite warm first things.

After breakfast Marv and I did take a short walk, about 25 minutes. When I got back, I jumped on the mini trampoline and a few things and then showered.

Then I began working on the family room. I got two walls washed and the fireplace vacuumed. I also moved about a thousand knickknacks and dusted them and put them back and vacuumed and damp mopped that portion of the floor. I will finish the other half of the family room on Wednesday.

@ Latisha – I am sure it felt good to get your work day/projects organized early. It sounds like you got a lot accomplished. I am sure you are looking forward to having the month of July off.

I read your blog and I really enjoyed it. It helped give me some inspiration to start journaling. I plan to read it again and probably start journaling as soon as I finish the deep cleaning projects.

@ Arlene – I think it must be hot everywhere right now. Good job getting in a walk and stretching and toning. The heat really zaps me too.

Thank you for your encouragement. I felt good with all that I got accomplished over the weekend, especially with how hot it was here. I still have a lot to do, but I am trying to keep my motivation going.

@ Patti – I don’t blame you for planning to stay in during the heat. That is usually how I feel. I am glad you finally got your fridge and got it all hooked up. I am glad you will be able to have the doctor check you again on Friday.

@ Lesley – Good job getting on the bike and doing a 20-minute low impact ride. Slow and easy is a great way to start. It is amazing how quickly we lose our strength and endurance when we don’t workout. All you can do is start where you are now and move forward.

I hope your thyroid doctor’s appointment went well, and that Jimmy’s stitch removal also went well. I hope you survived all of your errands in the heat.

Yes, I was very thankful the power was only out for a couple of hours. I do have AC and just the two hours without it, the temperature went up quite a bit. I think the majority of places here do have AC. I can’t imagine not having it. This is early for the heat to be here also. We used to only get triple digits in August.

Thank you for your encouraging words on the cleaning. Sometimes I feel like I should be able to workout and do the cleaning, but when I try to do that, I quickly find out I can’t. LOL

emoticon Happy Monday! Today, I woke up early and organized my work day/projects. I dropped off my son at the program. Then, I went to pick up our groceries from Kroger. I stopped at the hardware to buy a birdfeeder and bird food. When I got home, I took the groceries in the house, wiped everything down and put it all away. I spent the rest of the day working on my projects. I got a lot of things done which is awesome. I had to create a list of projects/follow-up items for my backup. I will continue this process tomorrow. I watched the news and did my workout. I loaded the dishwasher. Then, it started storming again. Now, I am sparking so I can get ready for bed.

Arlene - It was hot and humid in Michigan too. It started storming in the evening. Great job still going for a walk in the heat, doing stretching and toning. Then, you ran some errands. Maybe you can read tomorrow. Glad you found the movie on HBO. Let me know if you like it. Thank you for reading my blog and supporting my writing efforts.

Patti - Hope you stayed cool inside today.

Lesley - Great job doing your bike and swimming today. It's good to start back in short increments. Hope your doctor appointment went well. You had a busy day and keep[ organizing your work area.

Barbie - Sorry you had a power outage. Glad it was only 2 hours. Sounds like you enjoyed visiting with your friends at their new dance studio. Great job deep cleaning your house. Thank you for reading my blog and supporting my writing efforts.

Hi Queen Bees,

Like everyone else everywhere, it was very hot here today and humid too. Wanted to get some good exercise in today but found it hard to even get my mile walk in. When I got back from my walk, I cooled off inside and re-hydrated. Then I did my stretching and toning. I later ran a few errands in town. Wanted to start another book but I just seemed zapped today. I’m sure it’s the heat and humidity.

LATISHA - I did find the movie on HBO. I haven’t watched it yet but saved it to watch later.

BARBIE - I think you got a lot done. You Go Girl! Great job!

LESLEY - Hope your thyroid appointment goes well. Glad to hear Jimmy’s stitches are coming out. Enjoy your evening swim.

PATTI - sometimes it’s best to stay in and stay cool. Enjoy your day taking it easy.

Good morning everyone. It is supposed to be a hot day. Not planning on going anywhere.

Lesley: Yeah it was a hassle but the fridge was delivered and hooked up.

Barbie: Yeah me too. I go back with my friend for his doctor's appt on Friday and he will look at it again then.

Latisha: Yeah, I put away the coolers yesterday.

Arlene: Yeah we probably would not have received the fridge. They came right at 8:00 yesterday morning.

Good morning friends,

I finally got on the bike and did a 20 min low impact ride. Figured I would start back nice and easy and this was hard. I did a little bit of swimming as well and that was even harder. I cannot believe how out of shape I got over the past 2 months of doing nothing. At least I now where I am starting from and I can only get better.

Today, I have a thyroid dr appt, Jimmy gets his stitches out of his hand and I have to run to the eye dr for my new sunglasses. A Home Depot run and a couple of other small errands on our way home. Going to be hot and sticky today, so I will get outside to swim later on, but most of today will be indoors.

@Patti - I am sorry you had to go through a hassle for the fridge, but thank god you got it delivered.

@Arlene - I love it when I can just sit down and read and finish a book. Nice easy read, and lots of me time to get it done.

@Latisha - Thanks for the link to your blog. I'll check it out later today. Good luck getting your research organized. I hope you can find the time to get it done. it always makes me feel better when my work area is somewhat in order.

@Barbie - Good thing your power was only out for a couple of hours. I think you said you had an A/C - hoping your staying cool in this heat. I guess having an A/C in your area is not as common as it is around my neck of the woods? We get this heat and humidity normally in July/August - this is the first time we have gotten multiple heat waves in June.

That's nice that you were able to see your friends at the new studio.

You didn't need to do any workouts - all of that cleaning was enough. Great job!

Sorry I missed last night, but my power went off just as I was ready to start sparking. Thankfully it only was off about 2 hours.
We were under an excessive heat warning all weekend. Today it got to 113; our all time record previously was 108.

Yesterday I went to see some good friends and visit and support them in their pop-up event and see their new dance studio. Years ago we were all part of a dance studio that closed. These two friends then started their own studio and I am so proud of them. They have really made a go of it and their new studio space is amazing. It was so great to catch up with them all. I also bought a cute dress and a Hello sign.
I didn't do any actual workouts this weekend. I had decided I would take this opportunity to deep clean the house since I couldn't really get out. So far, I have accomplished, the bedroom, main bathroom, hall and entryway. What a task. The bedroom included the window, window track, blinds, walls and doors. The bathroom included all the normal plus walls and ceiling. The hall and entryway were big jobs because both sides of the walls are a bunch of pictures. I took them all off, cleaned the walls and the pictures and then re-hung the pictures.

Yes, I felt sorry for the performers in that heat Friday night. Today it got to 113 and the Hawaiian dancers were to perform. I can’t even imagine. They have a shade cover which helps, but it is still hot.

@ Lesley – I am sorry you had your completely blocked again and that the meclizine knocked you out.

It sure seems like you have a lot of issues going on right now. It will be interesting to find out if they are all connected somehow.

@ Patti – I am glad your doctor’s appointment went well and the doctor assures you all is well.

@ Arlene – I am sorry that you seem to have used some muscles you don’t normally use and were aching. I hope tomorrow will be a much better pain-free day. Your blueberry coffee cake sounds yummy

@ Latisha – I am glad you were able to go back to bed and relax after taking your son to his program. It sounds like you had a very nice, well-rounded day.

I am looking forward to reading your blog. I am trying to get into the habit of journaling so maybe I will find some inspiration.

emoticon Happy Sunday! Today I woke up early to just enjoy peace and quiet. I worked on my Renew Inspiration blog called "9 Benefits of Journal Writing". Please check it out:

renewinspiration.com/9-benef
its-of-jou
rnal-writing

I washed one load of clothes today. I went through the fridge and freezer to make my shopping list. Then, I looked in the cabinets and pantry. I placed our grocery order and will pick it up tomorrow morning after I drop off my son. I did my workout early in the afternoon. Then, I ordered Applebee's for dinner. Hopefully, we can get the cooking and eating back on track this week. It was hot and muggy again today, but no rain. I spent some time posting updates/quotes on social media. This week I need to go through all of my writing research and paperwork. Papers are everywhere. I need to organize, file, purse, and throw away. Well, I have a busy 3 days of work this week since I have to close out requests/invoices/projects and update my backup.

Arlene - Great job going for your walk early in the morning before the heat. It sounds like you really enjoyed the book since you finished it in the same day. I've never done that before. Hope you find the movie, but I think it was on HBO Max, not sure???

Patti - Glad you were able to get your fridge so you can put the coolers away.

Lesley - Glad you were able to get your pool heater fixed. Sounds like you have nice neighbors.

Hi Queen Bees,
I didn’t really do much today. Went for a walk early this morning before the heat and humidity came in. Washed up the sheets and remade the bed. Then I started my new book...and I finished it too. I actually had tears in my eyes at the end of the book. The book was titled The Mistletoe Promise by Richard Paul Evans. I found out the book was made into a Hallmark Movie and now I wonder if the movie is as good as I found the book to be. I’ll have to see if I can catch it on TV perhaps this Christmas.

LATISHA - SO glad you got some snuggle time with DH. I’ll have to check out your thriller movie and see if it’s on Netflix.

LESLEY - Glad the pool warmed up nicely. Does it ever get too hot to be refreshing? Good to know you have good neighbors and no hard feeling about not getting the house. Everything happens for a reason - right?

PATTI - Glad your fridge finally came. Good thing you went to Lowes to complain else who knows when it would have showed up.

BARBIE - Hope your day is going well and you are doing what you can to stay cool.

Good morning everyone.

Got the fridge delivered this morning. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday but the manager of the delivery company deleted the order for some reason. Had to go to lowes to complain and told them that we were living out of coolers. They put the delivery as an emergency so we got it at 8:00 this morning.

Lesley: We got the fridge this morning.

Latisha: Yeah I like the new fridge.

Barbie: We are liking the fridge.

Arlene: So far we like the fridge. No more defrosting

Good morning Friends,

Congratulations on taking Week 3! Nice job everyone!!

The water in the pool has finally stayed warm enough that I can go in and start to swim. Didn't get much done yesterday, though not from lack of trying. Did the laundry, did some food shopping, Still need to go to the fish market today. Our temps are heating up, although not as hot as the NorthWest. 90's and 70% humidity, so it will be gross out and this is lasting through the week.

We met the people that bought the house across the street that we wanted. They had said that there was someone in the neighborhood that wanted the house, so we told them it was us, but we were glad that we didn't get it. The time wasn't right. They felt bad that they overbid us. They are our age, and keeping the house just as is, only gutting inside and doing outside work - pool, etc. They are very nice people and will be great neighbors.

Scott is coming back today to finish the deck. He has done a great job and I need to have 2 rooms in the house done - carpets pulled up and hardwood put down. He does such good work, that we will probably have him to that in the fall.

@Patti - I hope your new fridge is working well!

@Arlene - I haven't gone underwater until yesterday in the pool so it was not from the pool. I may not want to go on the medication, but it might benefit me overall. Have to do more research today. I am sorry that doing all of that moving caused some aching. I hope your feeling better today.

@Latisha - Another busy day for you, but sounds like it was a good day.

@Barbie - I hope you are well and staying cool!

emoticon Happy Saturday! Today I woke up early to take my son to his program. When I got back home, I went back to bed to relax with my hubby. It felt good to just chill with no interruptions. Our youngest son was still sleep. When I got up, I cooked eggs and pancakes. I chose not to do any laundry today, but I did clean the bathrooms and kitchen. I spent some time today writing and researching. I picked up a script for my hubby on my way to pick up my son. It was cloudy, rainy and humid. I stayed inside for the rest of the day. I exercised and watched a movie with my hubby called Fatale. It was a good thriller. Then, I trimmed up my husband's beard, mustache, and side burns.

Arlene - Sorry you're aching after helping DH move the furniture. Hope you feel better.

Patti - Glad your fridge was delivered today. Hope you're enjoying it.

Lesley - Hope you're able to find out more about your health concerns and get some much needed sleep tonight.

Barbie - Great job cleaning today. Hope you enjoyed the local Art Festival.

Happy Saturday Queen Bees,
Wow – we took week 3. Great job Queen Bees.

I got up early this morning. DH and I decided to load up the truck with some bedroom furniture for DH to deliver to son #1 in PA. I guess I used some muscles I normal don’t use; my neck, shoulders and lower back or really aching (lower back is not unusual). While DH was gone, I did some laundry, cleaned the kitchen and made a blueberry coffee cake. I’m tired already and suspect I’ll be going to bed early tonight.

LATISHA – your salon days sounded perfect. So glad you enjoyed it. I bet you feel like a new person.

BARBIE – Being out in 97 F weather is one thing but dancing in it? I feel sorry for the dance troupe…they must have been drenched.

LESLEY – M DH had ear issues as well. He seems to go to have them cleaned out several times a year. Could you have gotten water in the ear from the pool? Oh my – you may be on to something…having all 4 of those ‘issue’ come about around the same time. Sounds like too much of a coincidence. I didn’t know you both were in healthcare. That explains the quick results. Unfortunately, my doctors won’t share anything or post it to your chart until after they talk/meet with you…cha-ching for yet another office visit is what I call it.

PATTI – Bet you are excited to get the new fridge. At least you won’t be defrosting it every few days.

Barbie: The doctors appt went well. He told me that the bite was healing and to trust him that I am fine. I have had no symptoms and tommorrow will be the 10th day. My friend was not empty when they did the colon thing on him.

Good morning friends,

Yesterday was an odd day for me. My ear was completely blocked again, and since I had just cleaned it out, I knew it was nothing other than fluid. I took a meclazine and usually I can work after taking that. Not this time. I was so zonked out, I ended my day really early and did nothing but sit in a recliner all day and doze. I feel better today even though I had a crappy sleep last night. New day, start fresh.

Scott is coming over to finish the upper half of the deck today. Today is going to be cloudy and warming up so at least he will be done before the really hot temps start. I need to do some menu planning, food shopping and laundry today.

I also now have a fungal infection on my big toe. I went to see the urgent care doctor in my primary practice, and she said that I will probably need an anti-fungal medication and I need to see a podiatrist to be followed. The anti-fungal meds for a toe fungus means 3-6 months of treatment and blood work every month because it can damage your liver. I am not happy about that either. But now I am wondering if there is more to this fungal infection since my lactose issue, eczema near my eye, dry ears, and now the toe all seem coincidental.

@Patti - You knew you were going to need the new fridge. Glad it at least held out for you until this one got delivered.

@Arlene - That's a good idea cleaning out the spices. I haven't cleaned that out in awhile, might be good to toss what I don't use. We have those jars that are magnetic on our fridge, so we generally use those 12 spices and a lot of that is what I grow fresh and dry myself.

Blood work is generally ready within a few hours of getting it done. Since Jimmy and I are both healthcare, we look at them and can understand most of what we see and get prepared to ask questions.

@Barbie - That was nice of you to take her to the food pantry. The poor performers having to dance in that heat!

I think he should have ordered an A1C, and I am hoping I don't have to go back for more tests. Also, I don't think they did the right blood work for my thyroid appt. My T4 level was elevated and she changed my dosage for that specifically and they only did a full TSH which was fine before and is still fine, We will see what she says on Monday.

@Latisha - It sounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday - something you really needed. I look forward to reading your blog. You always have great ideas for journaling and I usually save them off for future thoughts.

I took Riley for his morning walk - thought our rain was over and we wound up getting caught in the shower. it actually felt good to walk in the rain, but I am wondering if that contributed to my ear blockage.

My day today was really mixed up. I had told an acquaintance that I would take her to the Food Pantry today and it had to be in the morning so that threw everything off. By the time we got home it was already 80 out so too hot to walk.

My daughter had motivated me yesterday to get my windows and blinds cleaned so I decided housework would be my exercise over the next few days that are predicted to be so hot. Today I got the bedroom windows, blinds, doors, walls, floors and furniture cleaned.

This evening, even though it was 97 degrees, I went to the local Art Festival to watch my friend's dance troupe perform. It was a great performance, but I was soaked by the time it was over.

@ Latisha – I am so glad you slept much better. It is great that you woke up early and got some outside work done that started your day off peaceful. As much as I am not a fan of rain this time of the year, I think I might enjoy it more than the heat that we are having right now.

I am glad you enjoyed being pampered at the hair salon. You definitely deserved it after such a long time since your last visit. Good job getting laundry done and a light workout.

The blueberries were very tasty. I enjoyed some in my morning smoothie and also in my salad at lunch. I may bake something with them in it this weekend if I find time. That would be a nice treat.
@ Lesley – I am glad you had a nice day visiting with your DS#1 while working

I am sorry to hear that your blood work did not have the results you are happy with. I will be interested to hear what your doctor has to say about it.

Yes, we are having several hot days. They are saying 112 on Sunday which is really hot for our area. We don’t usually get to high 90’s until August, and 107/108 is the hottest I think we’ve ever had. My plan is to work indoors during this heat and get my windows and blinds all cleaned.
That is funny about Riley. Marv seems to like to be in the mulch too, but it isn’t under the bushes, it is out in the open.

Yes, I was a little disappointed that my anemia went the wrong direction, but I still feel fine so I guess that is good.

@ Arlene – Good news that the humidity wasn’t too bad and that you got in a nice walk in the morning. Good job on getting the seasoning/spice cabinet organized.
Yes, focusing on the hip flexors is helping. I don’t know what I can’t remember that and just make it a part of my every day. I know I would feel better if I did.

We are not used to such warm temperatures here. I think the all time record for here is 108 so 113 is just unheard of. Today it got to somewhere between 97 and 100.
@ Patti – Yay on ordering a new refrigerator and it being delivered so quickly. I am glad you got the doctor’s appointment moved up. I hope that went well and everything is okay. Why does your friend have to take the colon test over?

emoticon Happy Friday! I slept much better last night - Thank you! I woke up early to pull weeds from my flower bed in the backyard. Then, I picked up branches from the front yard that fell during the storm. It was so peaceful and I am glad my day was started this way. Shortly after I finished in the yard, the rain started pouring down. It rained most of the day! I washed 2 loads of laundry and then dropped my son off at his program. I returned home and cooked myself breakfast. Then, I worked on a few projects until it was time to leave for my hair appointment. The salon owner was very nice and professional. Since it was so long since I was in a salon, I decided to get the works. I got a relaxer, rinse to cover the grays (LOL) and a good trim. The wash was amazing and it felt so good to be pampered. I did a light workout.

Arlene - Glad you experienced less humidity and organized jars.

Patti - Glad you were able to order a fridge.

Lesley - Glad you were able to work by the pool and enjoy spending time with your family. Hope you spend time writing in your journal this weekend. My blog post that I am working on right now is about journal writing. I hope to publish it tomorrow and then I will share the link.
Sorry to hear about your blood work.

Barbie - Great job going on your solo walk, doing your stretches and yoga. I bet your blueberries were delicious. Are you going to bake anything?

Hi Queen Bees,

A decent day today. Humidity wasn’t too bad. Went for a nice walk this morning. When I got back, I organized my seasoning/spice cabinet. Combined a few jars of the same. I also labeled the tops of each jar with a permanent marker so I can more easily find what I’m looking for.

LATISHA - How did you hair stylist do today? Are you happy with the style? Glad you got a pamper day in...you so need it. I very much enjoyed breakfast yesterday with DH.

BARBIE - Sounds like focusing on your hip flexors is helping out. Good move! Triple digits for temps...yuck. Here I am complaining about the high 80’s. I can’t imagine a temp of 113. No wonder Marv doesn’t want to walk too much.

LESLEY - Sorry to hear your results were not what you were hoping for. Your results sure seemed to come back quickly.

PATTI - glad your finally getting that new refrigerator.

Good morning,

I had a nice day yesterday. DS #1 and his husband came over with friends to hang out by the pool. And I was working out there, so I kind of spent time with them and got some work done.

I haven't journaled for a couple of days, I don't want to lose the progress I have made. It will be a quiet day in work, and its not great outside - cool and rainy right now - so I expect I will be able to focus a little today.

I reviewed my blood work and was not happy with the results. My cholesterol has always been high (220) and it is related to my thyroid problems. But this time it was up to 247 and I was not happy with that. And my glucose level was elevated, but he did not order an A1C so I am not sure what that all means. I expected better results because of my weight loss, and all of the changes I have had to make in my diet. The only thing right now that is lacking is exercise. So, I really have to get my act together here.

@Patti - I am glad that you didn't have the chills last night. I hope you had some nice quiet time without your friend being home while you did laundry. I hope his test went okay.

@Arlene - That's great that they were able to get your car done even though your day was thrown off an hour by the accident. I love going out for breakfast - it is my favorite meal to go out for, even though I really don't eat a big one at home.

@Latisha - I am sure your not sleeping was related to how you were feeling. I am happy that your therapist was able to help you with some information to research. Your persistence will pay off with your son and all of the calls and work you are putting in. You totally deserve to be pampered - soak it all in while you are at the salon,

@Barbie - Its great that focusing on the hip flexors is helping you and the pain. I heard that your temps were hitting the 100's. We are going to the 90s again starting the weekend, but we haven't been in the 100s like you in ages. Good luck staying cool.

Funny how you say Marv doesn't like to be out, but wants to be with you. Same with Riley - he has found several spots under the bushes that he makes a little bed in the mulch and cool dirt. Some days, we have no idea where he is.

I am sorry your anemia is going in the wrong direction. Hopefully by the 8th it changes.

Good evening Queen Bee friends.

Not doing as well on my steps today. I am at 6,751 now and not feeling like an extra walk this evening, but we will see. Yesterday Marv and I took another short walk at 9:30 p.m. and I ended up just over 10,000 steps.

This morning I did a solo walk because it was already quite warm. I also did the 5-minute stretching video before my walk plus some hip flexor stretches and strengthening after my walk. My hip was hurting today, but with my focusing on my hip flexors and yoga also being focused on the same area, I am feeling good right now.

I also picked some of my blueberries today so I will have some yumminess the next few days

Our weather is supposed to be warming up over the next several days. I heard 113 on Sunday which is very hot for this area. I think 108 is the highest I ever remember, but we will see what it actually is. I have planned to work inside during those days.

@ Latisha – I am sorry you did not sleep well last night. I am sorry you were upset last night. Good job on exercising and it feeling great. I am glad you had a good therapy session and your therapist gave you some things to research.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy being pampered at your hair appointment! You deserve it.

@ Arlene – I am glad you were able to get all of the work necessary even though you were late. I am glad you and hubby enjoyed a good breakfast on your way home.

Yes, poor Marv does get affected by the heat. When I am in the back yard, he doesn’t really want to be there, but he wants to be with me. My massage definitely helps my hip, but it doesn’t last the full month, but at least I am not in constant pain anymore.

@ Patti – I am glad you were able to stay home yesterday and accomplished the laundry. I am glad you will be making a follow up visit with your doctor next week. It is good to be safe.

@ Lesley – I am glad you had a great therapy session with your friend. I hope you enjoyed working by the pool again today. Good luck to you on your blood work and your doctor’s appointment on Monday.

I got the results on my blood work yesterday. The anemia has gotten a bit worse going from 10.8 to 10.2. I have to get it rechecked around July 8th so we’ll see how it is then.

emoticon Happy Thursday! I did not sleep very well last night. I tossed & turned probably because I was so upset last night. I watered the grass this morning before I left the house to drop off my son. It was a quiet ride to the agency. When I got home, I started my work day. It was busy answering phone calls and processing invoices. Then, I had to close out a few events and update attendance. I cooked a steak and some chicken in the air fryer. We already had some veggies prepared. I exercised today and it felt great. I had my therapy session and it felt good to express how I truly feel (bad and good). My therapist gave me some information to research too which was helpful. I made quite a few phone calls today concerning my son. Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I scheduled a hair appointment with a new stylist for tomorrow. It has been almost 2 years since I've been in a salon. I am really nervous, but I am ready to be pampered tomorrow.

Arlene - Glad you were able to get your car inspections/work done. Hope you enjoyed breakfast with your hubby.

Patti - Glad you were able to stay home and do laundry.

Lesley - Glad you enjoyed dinner with your friend. Hope your bloodwork comes back okay.

Hi Queen Bees,

I had to bring my car in to Ziebart to keep it under warranty for the rust proofing. It was about 30 minutes away. DH drove on his won so he could drive me back home...we would go up together again to pick it up. Unfortunately there was a huge accident on the highway so it took me almost an hour longer to get there. DH left about 10 minutes before me and he did not get stuck in the traffic yet. I call Ziebart from the car because I was afraid I would not get there in time for them to do all the inspections/work; it normally takes about 6 hours. Luckily they said they would be able to complete it all.

On the way back home DH and I went out for breakfast. Here at 7:30pm, I’m still not hungry.

BARBIE - great job getting in a 2 mile walk. Sounds like Marv gets affected by the heat and humidity more than anyone realizes. Your massage sounds great. Hope it helps your hip.

LATISHA - I was heartbroken reading your update. I can’t even imagine what you go through. Hopefully you can share what happened with the program and they can help somehow and reinforce some positive learnings from the situation.

LESLEY - glad you were able to go for dinner and talk to your friend. Having new ears to talk to and a different face to see always helps. I actually looked up at the moon the night before last. I couldn’t believe how bright it was. I hadn’t seen such a bright one in a long time. I’m jealous...I would love to be able to sit at the pool and work. It would be relaxing (I think). Good luck with the blood work and your doctor appoint next week.

PATTI - getting laundry done is good too.

Good morning everyone. I actually did not have to go with my friend yesterday. I stayed home and did the laundry.

Lesley: I think the chill was from me not eating well for two days. I did not have the chills last night.

Barbie: Yeah I think it is healing. I will make a follow up visit with my doctor next week.

Arlene: The chills were probably from me not eating well.

Latisha: Glad your cyst is healing.

Good morning Queen B's,

Went to dinner with a friend last night. The other one wasn't able to come. She said as soon as she saw me, "what's wrong. you seem very distracted". My funk is visible I guess. So being out for dinner with her, was good, since she and I talked through a lot of different things. It was a great therapy session. I also had no idea it was a full moon either - that might be part of my funk too. I am usually a good follower of full moons, but not this past year - they do affect me and my mood.

My journaling took a back seat yesterday. But I will start up again this morning. After talking with my friend, I have a lot to add to it.

It is going to be a nice day here today. I plan on working by the pool again - it seems to be the best place for me to get motivated to write out specs and policies. I also have to go get blood work this morning for my thyroid dr appt on Monday.

@Patti - Good luck with your friends colonoscopy. I hope the chill isn't from the bite.

@Arlene - I cannot wait until we can go blueberry picking. The ones I am getting in the stores are either very small or have no flavor or are mushy. And we go through a LOT of blueberries. We really should have our own bushes.

@Barbie - I am glad your massage helped. Hopefully you are able to keep stretching out that area to relieve your pain.

@Latisha - I am so sorry you have to go through this. And you are right to feel violated. Using your things to clean his shoes in the bathroom is not okay. I hope he is able to learn and be able to process it in the program he is in. I hope you are able to find a more permanent program as well.

emoticon Happy Wednesday! Today started off good. I dropped off my son at the program. I went in to work to handle a few projects in person, made copies of paperwork and delivered to Finance. Then, I went to IHOP to pick up breakfast for my hubby and my youngest son. I made a few phone calls looking for more permanent programs, but found nothing. I continued my work day this afternoon. Then, I exercised for a bit. I went to pick up my son from the program. Unfortunately, the changed teen has gone and the defiant teen has returned. It was quiet until after dinner. I kept hearing noises in the bathroom so I went to check. Instead of showering, my son had my eye brow scissors cleaning the bottom of his filthy shoes, dirty paper towels everywhere, and my washcloth was filthy. I totally lost it. He actually tried to hide my scissors behind his back. Really??? Then, he spilled the bathroom cleaner all over the place now our whole house smells like bleach. SIGH If we say clean your shoes in the basement, he has to do the opposite. I made him clean my bathroom from top to bottom and then sent him to bed. I feel violated. I don't like when people touch my personal things. I am so FRUSTRATED & UPSET.

Barbie - Great job going for walk and getting a massage. Hope you enjoyed it.

Arlene - Thanks for submitting our points. Glad you enjoyed beautiful weather and blueberries.

Patti - Glad your bite is healing and doing better. The cyst on my back is gone and healing too. Hope your friend is doing good tonight.

Lesley - Journaling is a mood changer. Feel better soon.

Today Marv got in about a 10 minute walk before he was panting so I took him home. I ended up getting in a 2 mile walk today and then I was hot and tired so I didn’t do anything else. I had my monthly massage today which was a blessing since I was in quite a bit of pain. She worked on my tight hip flexors so now I plan to add stretching and strengthening for that area.

@ Arlene – Thank you for turning in our team points.

I am glad you had another beautiful day. I hope the humidity doesn’t return tomorrow.

Oh, I am sorry the deer have found your blueberries. I am glad your berries are big and yummy this year. I have picked a few already too and have been enjoying them. I hope tomorrow to pick the rest of those that are ripe.

I am glad it has been cooler too, but it is supposed to be triple digits for several days starting on Thursday. I love having the windows and doors open and would much prefer that to having the AC on.

@ Patti – I am glad you had a better night of sleep. Unfortunately, I didn’t. I hope your friend’s colonoscopy went well. I have that to look forward to in August for my anemia. Good news that your bite looks like it is healing.

@ Lesley – I am glad showering and getting dressed helped your feel some better and the journaling is opening your eyes to some things.

I hope you and Riley enjoyed your morning walk in the cool air and that you found the motivation to do something when you got home.

I hope your dinner with 2 friends was enjoyable.

@ Latisha – I hope you had a great day.

Hello Queen Bees,

I turned in the points today

We had another beautiful day here today. Temps still in the mid 70’s and no humidity. Tomorrow temps will be in the low 80’s and I suspect the humidity will be returning. Rain is coming again Friday.

Hubby and I covered our blueberries today. They are starting to turn blue and we have found the deer have already discovered them and have started eating them and breaking limbs to get in there to get to the ripe ones. I picked a small bowl and then we covered them. Hopefully if it’s not raining we will pick this weekend. The berries are big, juicy, sweet and yummy this year.

BARBIE - Glad your temps were cooler too. Doesn’t it feel great to be able to open windows and doors during the summer to let the fresh air come in? I don’t recall being able to do this in the last few years. Glad you and Marv got a nice walk in.

LESLEY - Glad you had cooler temps too. I feel so much better when the temps are a bit cooler. When it’s so hot out, I would rather just sit and melt away although I don’t seem to melt off any of my weight. Ugh. I love having the windows open in summer; it’s unusual this time of year and I can’t recall the last summer I was able to do that.

PATTI -
Glad your tick bite is healing. Do you think the chills were from that? You are a nice friend to go along to the colonoscopy procedure.

LATISHA - hope all is well. Hope your son is making progress with the program.

Good morning. Today my friend has a colonoscopy and I will be going with him. His friend will be driving. Had a little bit of a better night. For the past two nights I had a little bit of a chill that lasted only 5 minutes. My bite looks like it is healing. Not sure where the chill came from.

Good morning friends,

I felt better after I woke up, showered and actually got dressed - not just stayed in workout clothes. Just that simple act of getting dressed made a slight difference. I did some more journaling too and although its not really getting me out of my funk, but I am opening up my eyes to some things.

Rains came through last night and its really cool this morning. I am looking forward to going for a walk with Riley in the cool air. And hoping that it gives me motivation to do something else once we come home.

I am seeing 2 friends for dinner later on.

@Patti - I'm sorry you had a rough night. I hope last night was better.

@Latisha - You had a busy Tuesday! That will be nice to have most of July off.

@Arlene - I am glad your cool weather finally came our way. Its only in the 50s right now and all of our windows are wide open to let that cool air in.

@Barbie - Great job getting in your exercise.

Last night cooled off so I was able to open the windows last night which was really nice. Today was cooler until mid-afternoon which was really nice. Marv and I got in a short walk. We got in a mile, but it was a slow one. When I got home I jogged on the mini trampoline for 2 minutes, did a 5 minute arm workout and a 5 minute leg workout. I also went to yoga. I am at about 8,300 steps so far.

@ Arlene – Thank you for volunteering to turn in our team points.

I am glad you had a cooler day and were able to take advantage of it and get some outside chores done.

I never have to worry about extra work from visits. My son lives only about a half hour from here and my daughter never comes. If she did, I would have to welcome her big dog too, but at least her dog is an awesome dog.

@ Latisha – Thank you for your kind words. I sometimes feel like I didn’t get anything done if I don’t do any actual fitness. I tend to forget that everyday things still burn calories.

I am so glad you had a great day. I am glad your power came back on early. Good job on getting in your exercise today. I am sure you will enjoy having almost all of July off.

@ Patti – I am sorry you had a rough night last night; I pay tonight will be a better one.

@ Lesley – I am sorry that something seems to be bugging you. I hope your journaling will help you to figure out what is going on.

It would be nice if our labs required appointments so we didn’t have to wait so long.

Hi Queen Bees,

I didn’t notice if anyone volunteered to turn in points this week. I will do it unless someone has any objections.

It was almost cold here today. I started off in shorts and a tank top and soon I was in jeans and a T-shirt. I had the windows all opened but closed them by 5pm. It was just too cold in the house. I took advantage of the cool temps outside; I weeded the flower beds in back and on the side of the house. Tomorrow is expected to be about the same.

LATISHA - Glad you had a generator during your power outage. Things seem to be going well for your son in the program.

BARBIE - I don’t mind the extra work when the boys visit. I do mind the big dog coming but guess I’ll take it if it means my older son and his wife won’t come. I have never said no to the big dog coming more in fear of them deciding they just wont come either. Sounds like you had a busy day and you got a lot accomplished. I hate going for blood work early in the morning. It always takes so long to get done.

LESLEY - Sounds like you are in a funk for sure. I hope the cooler temps and lower humidity will help.

PATTI - hope your day has been good.

emoticon Happy Tuesday! Today was a great day. The power came back on at 8am before I left home for work and to drop off my son. We spent some time plugging stuff back up before we left. I helped out some co-workers pack bags and boxes for an upcoming event. It took us about 3 hours or so. I am busy with workshop maintenance and invoices for a lot of my accounts before I am off work for most of July. I did exercise today, but I stopped at Tropical Cafe for a smoothie and wrap. It was delicious too. I plan to spend some time this evening getting organized and catching up with my writing.

Patti - Sorry you had a rough night. Hope tonight is better for you.

Lesley - Sorry you're going through a funky time right now. I have my days too so I understand.

Barbie - I truly understand about having no motivation to exercise, but your daily recap made me tired just reading it.

Arlene - Hope you enjoyed your day!

Good morning friends,

Something is bugging me and not sure what it is. I think that is why I am so bored, cannot find anything to do, won't exercise. I am trying to journal about it to see what is on my mind, but not coming up with anything. I am losing it with dinners too - no motivation to cook lately. I didn't get in the pool yesterday for laps, jut went in late in the day to cool off. DS#1 came over for a few hours, so we grilled for lunch and DS #2 joined us for a nice lunch outside.

@Patti - I hope all went with with your friend at the doctor's.

@Arlene - Our cooler temps are coming tomorrow. Actually the temps aren't so bad and there is a nice breeze, but the humidity is so high. Maybe that's why I am dragging so much. Fingers crossed that once the humidity breaks later today and I'll get some motivation.

@Latisha - Glad to hear your son is open and learning things from the program. Great job getting in some exercise. I agree - tomorrow is a new day!

@Barbie - No laps in the pool - had lunch with my sons instead. All of the labs here, are requiring appointments. They don't want people in the waiting rooms since the hospitals are still following all Covid policies, so it actually works out better - we aren't waiting so long anymore.

Good evening Queen Bees. Today was a mixed-up day. I had to get blood work done which had to be fasting so I went at 8:00 a.m. They were really busy, so it took over an hour. Then I came home and still had to eat and by the time I was done it was already too hot to go for a walk.

I just couldn’t get motivated to workout today, but tomorrow I will get something done before I have to go to yoga at 2.

I did get the sheets changed and the bed remade, washed sheets, Marv’s blankets, and three loads of clothes. I also vacuumed the living room and hall and gave Marv a bath. I also had to water the garden and flowers so I was at least busy.

@ Lesley – I have been slacking in the exercise department the last few days too. It is always hard to get back in the groove once you haven’t done it for a few days. I hope you were able to get in some laps in the pool today. I would love to have a pool and be able to do that.

We had never been to Casino bingo before and I would have to agree that it is fast and confusing. It was fun to go to the casino – we hadn’t been in over 14 months.

@ Patti – I hope your friend’s doctor’s appointment went well.

@ Latisha – How fortunate that you have a generator since your power is still off.

I am glad your son’s program seems to be helping give him options. It is good that you have been able to talk to him.

Good job getting in some exercise, even though you didn’t get in a full one. My eating hasn’t been the best over the weekend either, but we can get back on track!

@ Arlene – I am glad the cooler temps have already started. I think tomorrow will be a bit cooler, but I know by the weekend it will be near 100 again.

I hope you enjoyed your sons’ visits enough to make up for all the extra work that goes with it.

Yes, I am thankful that Bob does my lawns. I don’t know what I will do when he is not able to do it any longer, but hopefully that won’t be for a while.

emoticon Happy Monday! Sorry I missed posting yesterday, but we lost power due to a storm. Unfortunately, we're still waiting for them to fix our power, but we do have a generator. Yesterday was busy and productive until our power went out last night. This morning I woke up early to get myself together minus my hair (no flat ironing). Then, I took my son to his program. So far, the program seems to be giving him other options besides being defiant. We sat down and talked about the program and what kinds of things he can do better in the future. As parents, you have to keep hoping for the better. I went into the office to take care of a few things. I did not do a long workout, but I did strength training and stretch. Our eating for the last 2 days was horrible. Tomorrow is a new day. I hope to catch up with you all tomorrow.

Hi Queen Bees,

A hot and humid day today but the cooler temps are on the way tonight. I can already feel the lower temps. Tomorrow is expected to be high of only 73. Looking forward to a nice cool summer day.

Cleaned up the house a bit now that the big dog is gone. Stripped the sheets from the one guest room and washed them along with the towels. The little dog and son #2 will actually leave tomorrow afternoon. I will then strip that bed and do those towels. Then I’ll be mopping the floors and vacuuming all the dog hair up. Busy day tomorrow but with cooler temps it will all be fine.

BARBIE - Glad Bob did your lawn. Yes, it is nice to have real church service again. It feels so good to have things getting back to ‘normal’. I haven’t played BINGO in a long time. I’ve never played casino bingo. I think I would have been lost too. Glad you had some help.

LESLEY - don’t worry about our to do list. Before you know it, the list will be full again. It doesn’t stay empty for very long. I’m jealous of your pool. I can dream of just getting in and cooling off all day long. Going in the pool would be the only thing on my to do list...LOL.

PATTI - hope you day went by quickly and there were no issues at the DR appointment.

LATISHA - Hope you are doing well and all is going well with your son.

Good morning Queen B's,

Not sure why I keep avoiding exercising. I keep walking by the weights and bike and seems to avoid it like the plague lately. My weight loss has plateaued and I know that starting up will kick it back into gear.

I tried to make a new to-do list, but seems like there is nothing for me "to-do". The lower part of the deck is completed and looks great. When he left, we all went outside and spent a a little time in the pool. The water has warmed up enough for me to go in without turning on the heater. II think this afternoon, my work break will be to go do some laps in the pool and start my exercise that way. maybe that's my problem - I need to start a new exercise rather than the same old ones. its a thought, but I doubt it.

@Patti - I hope your night was nice and relaxing.

@Arlene - We were actually planning on selling the house this year. But those plans fell through, so now we know we guy is coming tomorrow to look at the switch. Jimmy actually got the switch to work, and is afraid to shut it off - so we are shutting it off using a main e will be in this house for at least 3 more years until DS #2 finishes school. So the renovations we were not going to, we are now going to do. Once the deck is done, there are 2 small bedrooms that need hardwood flooring and our sitting room needs new furniture. Then we are done.

The restaurant sounds good. DH is not a big fan of curry but I do enjoy some dishes made with it.

@Barbie - Casino bingo is so fast and confusing! We have never played but it amazes me some of the regulars and how many cards they have and follow along without any issues! Jimmy has been talking a lot about the casino - we might have to make a trip there soon.

@Latisha - I hope you had a good Sunday!

Good evening Queen Bees. For some reason yesterday I didn’t have a lot of motivation, but Marv and I got in a very short and later in the day I did a little jogging in the house. I worked some on the pots for my birdbath project. I hope I will get it done while there is still time to enjoy it this summer.

Yesterday Bob and I went to the local casino and met his daughter and her boyfriend there to play bingo. Boy is it ever a good thing they were with us to help us figure out all of the odd games they played. None of us were lucky, but we all had a good time.

Today our church had a live service, our first since early March 2020. It was held outside and was quite warm, but it was so good to see all of our friends.

After church, Bob mowed my lawns. It was quite hot so I was very thankful to him for doing that.

It was 66 when I got up this morning and tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer so I think I will be figuring out something indoor to do for workout. @ Lesley – I am glad that Jimmy is doing better and off the pain meds. Good job getting your bedroom all cleaned.

I am glad your tofu mushroom sauce over chickpea pasta was so good and you both enjoyed it.

@ Latisha – Thank you for sharing your body scan exercise. I am glad you have found something that helps you relax. I need to make time in my life to do that on a more regular basis. While I don’t have a lot of stress in my life right now, I think everyone could benefit from such an exercise.

It sounds like you had a wonderful day Saturday. I am glad you were able to focus on you and your needs. Good job getting in your steps for both days!

@ Patti – It sounds like you had a beautiful Saturday. I am glad you were put on an antibiotic after the tick. I am glad you have no symptoms so far, and I pray I pray that you have no symptoms and it will be over.

@ Arlene – No worries about not chatting on Friday. Spending time with family was the most important. I am glad that you didn’t have any damage from the storm. I hope your neighbors didn’t have too much damage from the fallen tree.

I am sure it will be nice to have your house quiet after the pups go home.

Yes the salad with berries and berry dressing was so yummy. I bought more ingredients so I can have it again.

Hi Queen Bees,
Happy Fathers' Day to all the fathers out there and to all the mothers who have to be fathers.

Our boys took us out for lunch today. We went to a Jamaican/Caribbean type place. The food was very good. It was a nice place with great Reggae music playing. DIL and I had a lamb curry, hubby had a chicken jerk, son #1 had a jackfruit mango curry and son #2 had pork belly. Since we all had something different, we of course tried a little from each. Not sure how 'authentic' it really was but it was very tasty.

Son #1, DIL and big dog now left. It is quiet in the house again. The little dog seems so much more relaxed now too. I suspect she will sleep the rest of the day since she can now relax and not worry about where the big dog is and if he is anywhere near her to sniff her bottom.

Hope everyone is having a great day. Stay cool; stay hydrated and do what makes you happy!

LATISHA – I remember waking up early and enjoying the quiet in the house until everyone else got up. I’m glad you were able to get some time to yourself to get your head back on and block everyone else out. It’s a good survival technique.

LESLEY – Sounds like you guys have a fair amount of “things to do around the house”. Seems like we go one year where we are hog wild and gets lots of stuff around the house done then we take a break for 3-4 years and in year 5 we do it all gain. A cycle of life for a house..??

We do have a fair number of tornado warning in the area. I think we typically take shelter 3-4 times a year. Luckily, we have never had too much damage. We lost a peach tree one year and a cherry tree another and a big evergreen one other year. Luckily no house damage. One of the houses about a mile down our road had their living room picture window blown out one year and lost their field of crop then too. I think that has been the worst in the immediate area. Back in 1974, the Xenia tornado came through…I’m about 25 miles from there and wasn’t living in Ohio at the time. In 2019 the Dayton tornado came through…Lots of home had their roofs torn off and many businesses were lost…Dayton is about 15-20 miles from me. This was definitely too close for comfort for me.

PATTI – sorry to hear you missed your concert.

BARBIE – Hope you and Marv had a great day today and got in a nice little walk.

Good morning everyone. We ended up not going to the concert last night. Just stayed home and took it easy.

Lesley: So far there have been no symptoms. It has been only 3 days though. As I stated above, we ended up staying home last night.

Latisha: I did have a pretty busy day. We did not go the concert last night.

Arlene: Yeah luckily we got it out early and hopefully that means that everything will be okay.

Good morning friends,

Saturday was a quiet day. It was quite warm, and I couldn't seem to cool off, even in the house. I got some food shopping done at the local farm store for fruit and veggies. Then I got delivery for the basic stuff, and I needed to stock the pool area with snacks and such.

We also are having the deck redone that is between the pool and in-law apartment. Some of the boards are rotting so the whole thing is being replaced with the trex-decking. DS #2's friend is doing it all. This weekend he will do the lower level and then next weekend do the top level.

Today, I have no plans to do anything, but its only 6am and I cannot sit like this all day long. I'll go stir crazy. emoticon Time for a new to-do list.

@Patti - I hope you are in the clear also. Seems like you got it pretty quickly so fingers crossed. I hope you enjoyed the concert last night.

@Arlene - Thank god you guys were okay and no damage in your area. Do you have tornado warnings a lot in your area? Those things freak me out - I could never live in a tornado zone.

@Latisha - I am glad you had a nice Saturday. You seem a bit more relaxed even though you had a really busy day.

@Barbie - I hope you had a good day.

emoticon Happy Saturday! Today I woke up early just to enjoy the quiet house. My eye was burning really bad so I put some eyedrops in it. It felt much better when I went outside. I watered the grass and enjoyed the cool air. I took my son to his program and then I filled my gas tank up. I returned home and started my laundry. I swept and mopped too. I cleaned both bathrooms. Then, I went to pickup some Chick fil a for the family. We went for a walk in the evening and it felt really good. I honestly did not say a word while walking. I just blocked everyone out and honed in on nature's sounds. I met my daily steps today and yesterday. Thanks for your encouraging words as well.

Arlene - Glad you enjoyed time with your sons and pups. Sorry you lost power due to the storm, but glad you got the power back on this morning.

Patti - You had a busy morning at the farmer's market and doing laundry. Hope you enjoy the concert.

Lesley - Glad Jimmy is feeling better. Great job getting things done. Your recipe sounds delicious.

Barbie - You were very busy yesterday.

Hi Queen Bees,

Sorry I didn’t get a chance to chat yesterday. With both boys home for the weekend, time just got lost. When I thought about chatting, we had the tornado sirens going off and went to the basement for shelter. We ended up losing power last night. Luckily, it came back on around 10am this morning. No damage here but one of the neighbors had a tree blown over. Other than that, all in the area looked fine.

The pups are …not sure what to say. Sometimes they seem to be okay, then other times, there is lots of growling and nipping. You can tell both are the only child…they do not share well and usually don’t play well together either. Can’t wait for the big dog to home back home to PA. He’s really too big for my house.

Great job team in week 2 of the challenge. I just saw we won week 2.

BARBIE – your salad and berry dressing sounds like a wonderful summertime salad. How yummy.

LATISHA – Glad to hear your son can start his session already. That really stinks that work will not be flexible given the situation. Having to go on FMLA with no pay is not the best situation either. Wonder if they will allow intermittent FMAL where you can take 2 hours here, 5 hours there as needed. Some places won’t approve that either, but I often wonder if they can really deny it? Finding employment elsewhere may be a better option but then again, I have no idea what the job market is like right now. Good luck. Make whatever choice fits you the best.

LELSLEY – glad Jimmy’s surgery went well. Hope his pain subsides quickly. Funny – my hubby says the same here. He told me the other night how my cooking has changed over the last year or so and how I have become a better cook. In fact, my younger son has said the same thing; I have to agree. I’m certainly trying to make different stuff and healthy stuff that tastes good and not all the quick and easy meals that seem to be quick and easy but not really health. Your mushroom tofu sauce sounds yummy too.

PATTI – good thing you noticed the tick bite and were able to get it all out. Hopefully you will be fine. Have fun at the concert tonight. What kind of music will be played there?

Good afternoon. Had a busy morning. Went to the farmers market and then a little me time and came home. Cooled down, started some laundry, planted watermelons and will go out to a concert tonight.

Lesley: We got the tick out and the doctor said that it was a deer tick and gave an antibiotic to take for 10 days and if there are no symptoms or signs for 10 days I am in the clear but if there are symptoms then I will have to a blood test that will take at least 6 weeks for results. Hoping that I am in the clear.

Barbie: Yeah luckily he got the tick out.

I pause for a moment to scan my body of stress. I take one deep, cleansing breath, and then another. With each exhale, I release any tension or tightness. Now I close my eyes and imagine that each time I inhale, a soft, pink light caresses my being with peace and healing energy. Now I can let go and relax!

1) When do you feel less stress and more confident?

2) What makes you happiest in life?

3) What do you need to make more time for?

4) Who do you want to be surrounded by?

Good morning Queen B's,

Jimmy is much better. I think the pain was a result of a tourniquet that they put on at his elbow to limit blood flow to his writs/hand or the surgery. it was on for 35 minutes and he said was the most painful thing he ever had to deal with. His surgery was just local at his hand. He already stopped his pain meds other than tylenol.

Got the bedroom done - sheets changed, floor washed, rug vacuumed and everything dusted. Even got the dogs bedding done, and he gets groomed tomorrow.

For dinner I made a tofu mushroom sauce over chickpea pasta. It was so good - I was surprised at how much we enjoyed it.

@Patti - I hope you are okay after the tick bite. At least you were able to get all of the tick out.

@Barbie - I. hope you are feeling better today.

@Latisha - I hope things went okay for you yesterday.

@Arlene - I hope you are enjoying your sons visit.

Just a quick check in tonight. I got in a short walk, but it was quite warm and then I worked in the back yard for about an hour. I also ran some errands. Now I am exhausted.

@ Lesley - I am sorry Jimmy is still in pain. I hope he can keep ahead of it.

@ Patti - I am glad you got the tick out.

@Latisha - I am glad you are able to bring your son in so soon. I am sorry your employer is unwilling to work with you regarding your sons. I hope you are able to find some place that is more flexible.

Good morning. Yesterday I mowed the lawn. When I was taking a shower I saw that I got a tick bite. The tick was still there. We removed the tick so this morning I am going to call the doctors to get it checked out.

Good morning friends,

Congrats to us on winning week 2!

Jimmy had his surgery and is in a lot of pain. He is trying to stay ahead of it with the pain meds and tylenol and icing his hand. It is only day 1 and we figure this should last until tomorrow. and then he should begin to feel better.

Got really nothing on my to do list done. Today, I plan on cleaning the bedroom and changing the sheets. I have a recipe for a mushroom sauce made with tofu that I am going to try later today for dinner. Last night I did salmon that I marinated in homemade teriyaki and parsnip fries. Jimmy commented at how good our meals have been and how much he has changed his habits and eating more veggies. Again, needing to look at the positive of being lactose intolerant - its a whole new way of life here and that's a good thing.

@Patti - That's good that your friend got his medications. I love crab cakes - never thought to grill them. Sounds like you had a nice evening!

@Arlene - Enjoy your time with the family! I bet its going to be busy!

@Barbie - Sounds like you got a lot done! I still haven't gotten back on my exercise bandwagon. Just haven't had the mindset yet. Hopefully this weekend I get some motivation to start something. I wish I had more to pick in the garden besides red leaf lettuce. Even the romaine isn't quite ready. All of the veggies are slow and little this year so far. Hoping they all get a growth spurt soon.

@Latisha - That's great that you can bring in your son today. I'm sorry that your job is not allowing the flexibility that you need. I see that a lot of businesses around here are doing the same thing. Its time to come back and we want you on site, not remote. Its going to be hard for many to readjust. I think they all should allow some flex time since most people have proved that they can do the job from either place and it allows for a better work/life balance.

emoticon Happy Thursday! It's real late so this will be short. Congrats to everyone for winning this week. Today I had a busy day at work. I placed our grocery order and picked it up in the evening. I received a phone call from the agency telling me that I can bring my son on Friday morning. I just finished filling out all the paperwork so we can just sign in and start the session. I washed 2 loads of laundry. I have a lot on my plate right now and I just need a few days to just BREATHE! I met with my HR department about the return to the office schedule. Unfortunately, I may not have anyone to watch my son so my husband and I are going to weigh our options. I am going to look for other remote work/job openings this weekend. Family first, employer second. I asked for some grace in August until my boys go back to school and they are not willing to be flexible. I still have an option to do FMLA with no pay I have about a month or so to figure it all out. Have a wonderful night. Talk to you tomorrow.

Today started off bright and sunny so Marv and I enjoyed a short 1.3 mile walk. I also did my 5 minute stretching video and yoga.

Since it was yoga day, I didn’t get much else done. I finished paying bills, put clothes away, watered garden and flowers, and picked veggies from the garden.

For dinner I tried a new recipe my daughter shared with me. It was so yummy. It was a salad with blueberries, mandarin orange, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, green mix and kale. The dressing was made with blueberries, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar, honey, salt and pepper. It called for avocado oil, but I didn’t use it and it was still yummy.

@ Arlene – Way to go getting the cleaning finished. I hope you will enjoy your time with the boys and the pups behave although they sound like it will be challenging for that to be a reality.

@ Patti – Your evening last night sounded like it was enjoyable. I’ve never had crab cakes, but they sound pretty tasty. I am glad your friend was able to get the medications.

@ Lesley – I am glad your son had an enjoyable birthday and was able to enjoy your pool. I know what you mean about not being old enough to have a 33 year old son. My oldest granddaughter will be 29 and I am sure that isn’t possible. LOL

I hope that Jimmy’s surgery went well and he will be pain free soon, and that you were able to get some things checked off your to do list.

@ Latisha – I hope you had a great and uneventful day.
