Hope it helps. Another thing you may want to look at is the shoes.
Here is a post I did regarding how my shoes made a huge difference with my knees (I just copied and pasted over so you don't have to sift through the entries):

I was wearing the wrong shoes for a long time that messed up my knees. Depends on what kind of alignment you have, such as a pronation and supination. I added a link that explains:

Makes a huge difference when selecting shoes. People at running stores can help you figure out which shoes work best for you. You can also look at your shoes and see how they wear. Do they wear on the inside, outside, evenly...

Hello! I just finished day two of week three and I am loving this!

My problem is my knees are really sore, I am running on asphalt. I stay off of the concrete sidewalks and have been running on pretty even surfaces. My knees seemed fine through day two of week two but within the last week they are progressively getting more sore everyday.

Is there anything I should be doing to prevent this? I read somewhere the muscles around my kneecaps may need to strengthen, but I would like other opinions. Last night after my run I iced my knees right after and that felt good, I have also been taking ibuprofen to ease the soreness.

Should I be running a certain way? I strike usually with my heel first.

I want to keep going but am afraid of causing an injury that could make me stop for weeks.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
