Right! I am the same way, very slow, but proud as anything when I get through it. It is like anything, I guess. We can work on picking up the pace and looking strong later on. Way to go! Keep up the good work.

Nope, speed doesn't matter. You want to build endurance first. You're doing great!

Does it matter how slow you go? I just finished week 3 day 1 but I run slowly. I mean really slow. I've tried to run faster but simply can't do it right now.

But at least I'm doing it, right?

Exercises that I can think of off the top of my head would be standing balancing exercises (there are a lot of yoga poses you can do this with.), also squats (really sitting back on the heals rather than the toes), and calf raises (slow and controlled: some with toes facing forward, some pigeon toed, and some with your toes out. also reverse calf raises where you lift your toes and dig your heals into the ground.), and if your resistance band is long enough you can do the X band walk (youtube has videos of this if you're not sure what it is). Youtube probably also has more videos on exercises to strengthen your ankles. It's a great place to find exercises for anything you want to improve really.

I do have ankle braces for both my ankles because they both tend to act up though the left is usually the problem. I hadn't worn them on the last run but I packed them both this morning to wear just in case. What kind of exercises do you do to strengthen your ankles? So far I've only been working on toning my abs, thighs and arms. I don't have any equipment at home besides a yoga mat and some light weights I use during cardio exercises oh and a resistance band.

Have you tried an ankle brace? My joints are always giving me trouble, so I have two ankle braces and two knee braces that I'll occasionally wear, depending how much they're acting up that day. Also, I don't know what else you do when it comes to fitness, but toning has really helped strengthen my knees and ankles. I also alternate ice and heat some nights too.

Didn't hydrate enough so I went walking instead. Hopefully I can run this weekend but weekends are so unpredictable. Hmm no plans for Friday night yet so I might be able to then.

Still on week 3 as I'm not running as frequently as I should. Went running Monday made it half way before I had to take a break (my ankle and side were hurting so I paused) then I continued and completed the run. I go again this afternoon. Hydrating now. I'll try and remember my earphones this time (and my sunscreen).

Call me Sandy.

Should be an easy week. I'm thinking I'm going to focus more on speed, since this week is so similar to the last. So, we'll see how it goes.

@ETTEZEUS - Thanks :).

My run was cut short unfortunately but I made it to the 5th interval before I had to head back to the car. My ankles didn't bother me ^_^.

I made it all the way to week 7 in December and then my ankles were sore and the holidays happened and I've been slacking ever since (barely even walking). I'm starting back again and I'm starting with week 3.

I use an interval timer app on my phone that I love since you can save the weekly runs onto it. It's called In2Shape Round Timer. I have that going the same time as the MapMyRun app witch tracks how far I've gone, the MapMyRun app is suppose to upload your results (distance/time) up to their website so you can keep track of your progress but mine never seems to work.

My turn to begin week 3!! Anyone else with me?

I think I've finally figured out to go REAL slow and focus more on breathing. Then I don't have to stop in middle of joggin and I find I can "run" a little further.

Week 3.....bring it on!!!

I finished week 2 with no issues, but I am not so sure about this week. I will do my first training run this afternoon. I can report later if I make it. emoticon

Love the "timer" idea!! but have no idea where you would begin to look.
The only timer I have is the one I use for cooking : )
Let me know if anyone can help you out.

Ok week two had some bumps but I'm moving on to three.

I have been using the gymboss app and it works ok. If I make it through another week I may reward myself with the real thing.

Any suggestions on great, reasonably price timers?
