I am starting on week 3. For I am walking not running, at 72 I think I may break my neck if I run. I am working on my treadmill plus walking with dog. Yesterday I did 2 miles in an hour, not fast going varous speeds and switching between speeds 2 minute at one the 1 minute at another. I am working more for endurance. My race is Dec 6, I know I will be ready. It will be my first virtual race, first race ever. I did walk 5 miles in my 30's when we walked for hunger awareness. Going a little at a time and following own pace has helped along with the ideas the program gives you. I also do stretch, strenth exercise from tapes I have.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Ok, that sounds much better and safer from injury/burnout too!

Thanks. I agree 100% about the adding running days to the system.

I think I probably confused what I was writing. Our running days are on our work day at the firehouse. We work a 24/48 schedule, so trying to run three days in an actual 7 day calendar week doesn't work. We really need a nine day week to make it work. So we are adding two extra rest/strength days not running days, so we can stay together.

Week 1: Run Sunday, Run Wednesday, Run Saturday
Week 2: Run Tuesday, Run Friday, Run Monday
Week 3: Run Thursday, Run Sunday, Run Wednesday
Week 4: Run Saturday, Run Tuesday, Run Friday
Week 5: Run Wednesday, Run Saturday, Run Tuesday

and so on.

Good luck adding days so soon in the program. Most times, that's the quickest way to burn out and not recommended because your system hasn't built the endurance to run that much yet.

Just finished the first day of week three. Added two extra days of week two to our routine because a few members of the shift were off. We've got an extra three weeks between the end of the program and our 5K so we might add a fourth day to each week which works better with our 24 on 48 off schedule.

Somehow my jog logger messed up the 4th interval and we ran for four minutes instead of two, but we made it.
