I have DDD, but don't have a lot of pain with it, though I understand most people do. I guess I'm lucky in that regard, but some days I wish it was pain. I don't know. I probably don't mean that. But my biggest symptoms are numbness and weakness which is a bit maddening at times. I've had fusions in my neck and my lower back. My neck fusion was a year ago in October and I still get tingling and numbness in my hands and my right arm sometimes, but not nearly as bad as I used to so I'm thankful for that. My low back fusion was in May and I have a lot of persistent leg weakness and intermittent numbness which has really limited my lifestyle. I'm praying it gets better like my arms did. I used to be very active and now I'm not. I can't be. I try not to dwell on that. I have made some major changes to my hobbies to try to find different ways to enjoy life and I am blessed with a great life partner, so that helps. Still I pray my legs get more reliable as the fusion heals in my low back. They say it can take a full year and I believe it. I certainly took a year from my neck surgery to feel about 80% there and I'm very happy with that. At any rate, pain has never been my big issue. When I had my low back surgery the surgeon said I was "bone on bone", "100% loss of disc space at L4-L5" and I never had a lot of pain all that time. I certainly didn't go bone on bone over night. But rather suddenly one day I got leg weakness and that's how I found out. There are worse things. I've tried to work on my posture and increase my calcium and lean protein intake, reduce my weight, and keep the best attitude I can. I try to stay thankful for what I can. I wish everyone the best.

I too have had this for years. Now they believe I need spinal surgery.
I have had all sorts of things done. I had the nerves along each side of my spine burnt to relieve the pain they said would last for about a year, and it really did.
Ive had several injections. The pain is so bad I cant sleep at night.

I do wish you well. I hope and pray you will be healed.

I'd believe all of the above.
