I hate to admit it but I failed on all points of the July challenge. I am determined that this month will be the month that I am going to change things. Although the July challenge is over for all of those who did well emoticon I plan to take the challenge for this month. I'll check back in September to let you winners know how I did. emoticon

The challenge I took was '3 vegetarian meals a week'. Surprisingly I did better than I thought. Twice a week I had tuna for lunch and then at least once a week (sometimes twice) I had eggs for dinner. Still got my protein in me. This is something that I'm going to keep - maybe not 3 times a week - but at least twice! This was a good challenge.

So, 6xvegan, more daily vitality and new fruity-veggie discoveries for me!!!

That was the promise.

The facts now:

I made it about 5 vegan meals a week... it's okay, at least it wasn't all coming from animals! (I am strongly considering becoming a vegetarian. It takes some time, though...)

I took my daily vitamin because I found some sugarfree chocolate flavored tablets. So, I did this one. I'll have to stop though, it says not to take it more than 30 days in a row, three times a year.

I "discovered" soy (soy is good, but I just took the time to taste each and every soy product available - some were a delight, some were yucky, but overall - a great insight!), kumquats (LOVELY), fennel (braised and baked with grated Parmesan) and some weird forest mushrooms - I can't remember their name (I totally hated them, they became slimy when cooked).

Actually... I did well in this challenge :)

This month we are concentrating on intake but I think walking will be an excellent goal for you. Have you tried the map it tool on the fitness page? It tells you how far you went and you can even save it. emoticon

This should be an easy one for me, I use very little salt, do not drink soda (If it can remove paint from a car, then I really do not want it in my stomach- even though stomach acid is stronger),take a multi vitamin plus lots more daily, and already eat lots of veggies so, I guess I will eat 3 vegetarian meals and try to find a new fruit or veggie to eat once a week.

good choice! We only need 1 tsp of salt per day and our western diet contains 5-6 without picking up a salt shaker. Salt can raise blood pressure and fast food joints use extra salt to help preserve the food putting their salt intake way over board.

with what's left of the month, I'm going with taking a multivitamin cause this is a weak area for me; some weeks I do it everyday but then other weeks, I might only take 2 the whole week.

ty for the challenge!

My SIL always says diet soda cause joint damage and the sweetener they use (aspartame) has some of the ingredients found in embalming fluid. So I wouldn't doubt it. Okay, bedtime. Night all.

I wanted to add a comment about soda. Years ago my husband had a Tab customer when we were still in business with Coke. The lady drank Tab and ordered like 10 cases at a time. We later learned she had severe osteoporosis and she told my hubby the doctors told her it was from drinking all the Tab. Right now i can't recall how the soda causes bone loss but it includes sugar soda as well.
She ended up in a wheel chair not saying the osteo caused her death but sure did not help. Just thought i would mention it for thought. I have read about this since. Georgine emoticon fireworks starting here emoticon

A food for thought...when going for no salt added to your meal, look at some of your spices. Lawry's Seasonings have salt, your meat tenderizers have salt and sugar. Just a thought to think about when you reach to spice your dishes.

This months challenge will concentrate on what we put in our bodies. Choose one or more....

1. no salt
2. 3 vegetarian meals per week
3. no soda
4. try a new fruit or vegetable once a week.
5. take a daily vitamin

Well I don't even cook with salt. I very seldom drink soda, there are very few fruits or vegatables I havent tried at least once, and I take a daily vitamin every day and have for years. So Just like DAMICOB I guess I will try for the vegetarian meals. Does Breakfast and Lunch count? I probably have a vegetarian breakfast almost every day and lunch close to 3-4 a week. I will try to do some dinners.

This is a tough one since I don't use salt, don't drink soda, take vitamins and love all kinds of fruit.

I'll have to try the "3 vegetarian meals". This will really be a challenge!
